Unhappy sprinter 313 cdi wierd fault

hey evryone,
need some advice on a pretty strange problem.
i was stopped at lights and due to being away in my own world i took off in second gear
and as expected i cut out ,which is a good sign for my clutch but ever since my van has developed a very strange problem.
when my lights are on and i try and turn the engine off with my foot on the brake i can take the keys totally out of the ignition and its still running.
i also discovered today that i don't have properly fuctioning brake lights when my lights are on ,obviously related to the other problem, when i press the brake the dash lights come on with the key one click before start up.
i would grately appriecte any help as i am seriously worried that it is going to cost a fortune ,being the computer or something
thanks.

I don't think it's a problem caused for your 2nd gear start on that light.
It can be an electrical problem on the ignition system. I had a similar problem but with a toyota truck here in Peru, I didn't went to the service and in a few weeks stopped.

Common fault with you putting in a single pole bulb in the twin pole socket, therefore back feeding the ignition when your lights are on........

check brake light bulbs both of them somtimes the filiment welds itself to the other filiment due to holding your foot on the brakes at traffic lights it is a common problem and you think it is going to cost you hundreds.when you hold the brake pedal down for to long it causes the filiment to bend over and attach to your side light filiment sorted thats just saved a visit to the garage let us know if it worked.

Talking bulb problems causing havoc

i have just had the exact same problem this even happens when you hook up a trailer the brake and side light filiments have welded together when you unhook trailer problem goes away . a lot of problems on sprinter vans are caused by bulbs and it makes you think you have a serious problem thats how mechanics love them and rub their hands when you drive up
