Query Drive wheel

Can anyone help with a problem I have with the drive wheel ?

Had a broken stud on the drive wheel. Mercedes said don't try to drill it out as it cnt be done and they would do the work for £400.00 for new half shalf seals and labour !!!!

So took van home drilled the stud , took me two minutes BUT the stud has gone inside the'hub'.
Can this do any damage whilst driving ?

Hello ese139

Yes ! but you don't say what van you have and how old, and does it have drums or discs.

you say the stud has gone in the hub ! so how are you going to put the new stud in ?

It is a Merc sprinter 2004 with disc all round. The stud went right through so the new wheel stud just went on the wheel. This is what I mean when remains of the stud went through to the hub.

Hi again,

I think it will have dropped in the break drum, so you will have to remove the
disk so the bit does not jam the brakes.

and bit you refer to is called a bolt and not a stud, a stud goes in from the back and you put a nut on the outside of the wheel.
