Sprinter Harmonic Balancer Failure

I just lost my second harmonic balancer at about 215K miles on a Sprinter. I know MB has a recall either in the works or already on the street for balancers on some passenger cars and SUV's. Does anyone know if this would also apply to the 2.7L ?

My daughter has 3 2004 Sprinters .. two have had harmonic balancer failures both vans at about 125,000 miles. 1 has been repaired, out of warranty, the second has been towed to a dealer a 100 miles away in New Hampshire. The "fix" is to replace the engine as they claim crankshaft / key way damage. Dealers ( two are now involved ) and Factory are giving her the runaround .. the bottom line is $6,500.00 to replace the engine, and MB will pay 30% !

Anyone else have this sort of issue ??
