That's just crazy! I know the battery is hard to change out because its under the seat, but what is so special about it that makes it $300?

ouch! here's a better option if you can do it yourself.

Interstate Batteries Results Page - Automotive / Truck 2008 Mercedes-Benz R350

I was turned on to Interstate batteries by a friend who is a Mercedes Master Tech. He could put anything he wants into his and his customers cars and understands the construction, science and chemistry of batteries very well. I was a bit skeptical at first since I just used cheap napa cells on my rigs after the factory ones went. Now all my cars have them installed.

The prices you see online are higher than what you will find at a shop that sells them.

Good luck!

I've had my Interstate in the Landcruiser for 7 years. The GMC truck for 5 and the wife's car for 4. Never had a problem with any of them. The landcruiser and the GMC both get heavy draws on the batteries from hunting and working at night. Never once let me down and they last much, much longer than oem cells.

Like I said, the local dealers will have a much better price than online and the quality of the interstate batteries far exceeds what you are going to get from the dealer.

The install price is seriously messed up. I hope they cleaned your car and gave you some cookies and coffee for that.

That's different. Perkins probably gives them away for promotion. What does 8 bucks get you there? The dealer in Minneapolis had a nice lounge, coffee, cookies and the cleaned and vaccumed the car. They even filled the washer fluid and checked tire pressure. My old man is a little tricky and would lower the pressure to see if they were really inspecting. They were! At least you had a pretty good run with your oem cell. Around five years is pretty good considering all the electrical stuff going on in your car.
What really matters is that your ride is healthy and being properly maintained. Good luck!

My local does have them just like yours and offered car wash but I refused because it was raining that day. My SA is my buddy at my local MB dealer and do take good care of my vehicle. The day I was in, he was not scheduled to be in but followed up the next business day to make sure my vehicle was well taking care.
