Heater stopped blowing

Wife just called and said the heater was blowing on and off then just stopped....no heat now. I'll look at it when I get home to see if rears are working. Anyone have this happen?? Anything electrical to look at? Relay?

Edit:
I should clarify and add that I believe it is the fan/fan speed, not the heater itself.

The front blower and the rear blower (located in the console I presume) are both not working.

I'm assuming there is one located in the console since the rear heater controls and vents are on the rear of it. I do believe there are two seperate fans.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm also assuming right now this isn't a water/hood vent problem if both are not working. I haven't dug too deep into it yet.

Fan never made any unusual noises prior to just stopping.

Was able to pull cover down and yes it was wet. Pulled the blower motor out, turned upside down and drained the rest of the water out. Potomac German Auto has several used replacements from $85 to $175.

For reference if someone needs it:

Interesting to me that the rear blower isn't funtional.

FYI, for those who may not be aware of this. There is a fuse diagram fold out, spare fuses, fuse puller in the spare tire center piece. Also the rear fuse box is to the right of the spare under a cover.

Replaced blower motor with a used unit ($100 shipped) and everything works now. I cleaned out the drain hole that is under the hood vent. Looks like it will fill up with about 10" of water before it will start spilling over into the car. Takes less than 2 minutes to remove two clips, remove main plastic attachment, stick finger in drain to clear out (just push finger thru). Will save you this whole ordeal.

Side note. There is a long plastic connector with about 8 or so small orange wired connectors going to it that is attached to the panel under the blower moter. If you disconnect these you car WILL NOT start.

FYI

Yes it does. The blower has twso plug that attach to it. I'm assuming one goes to the fan in the center console. If the main isn't working, that will not either. Key to this whole deal is to make everyone aware to clean this drain out. Literally takes two minutes. Make a mandatory check when you do the oil or something. I know I am!!

I mean you can look down in there and see if there is water or not. Very obvious!

So to follow up on this thread (see.....people do COMPLETE threads to help others)

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w251...con-red-2.html

Please make checking this drain part of your MB ritual of checking fluids etc. If not, you will soon be doing as I have done. CHECK FOR WATER ON THE PASS FLOOR!

Some more info on blower issue - with a twist

Looks like I'm one of those R owners who did not get the message in time to clean the drain. I'm sure it's the season (fall) for blowing the blowers.
My difference is that the blower did not quit but rather decided to work overtime and drain the battery after shutting the car off. I noticed that it seems to work as usual when the vehicle is in operation.
As I could not get the replacement part quickly enough (dealer in Canada wants 606.00 dollars for the part when on line new goes for roughly half of it) I decided to save the battery by adding a on/off switch to the blower's harness. Now we just have to remember to turn it off when the car is parked and back on when need to use AC.
Does anyone have opinion if this could work long term (beside the annoyance of having another switch)?

What I can tell you is that I bought a used blower assy. form Potomac German Parts for about $140. Their parts come with a 6 month warranty.
