Suspension problem-need advice

My 2006 R350 (non-airmatic) is leaning to the right, and sitting very low over the passenger side wheels (front and rear). Driver side is normal. No lights or warnings. I know nothing about suspension systems. Does anyone have a guess on what could be wrong? Shock? Strut? Spring? Does my vehicle have an air suspension system? Do I need to replace the air leveling valve?
Thanks.

I believe you do have air suspension and it needs testing to find out which part has gone wrong.

Thanks. Vehicle is out of warranty. I'm trying to find an alternative to the dealership, but not having much luck finding anyone that knows how to test it. Looks like it may get expensive.

Have you looked through the repair shop forum?

Eric, thanks for responding. I've actually used a mech. I found on this site in the past, but he didn't sound too confident about suspension issues. I did go back to the Repair Shop area of this board and was surprised to see how many shops were added since I last checked. I'm going to drop off the car at one of them in a few hours. Right now I'm trying to educate myself a bit before dropping it off.

Is the same diagnostic tool that is used for the engine (STAR??) also good to diagnose suspension issues?

I have confirmed that the right side of the vehicle is going up and down....no blown airbag. I'm now beginning to think that the right side is working correctly and the left side is stuck full up. Will post results.

Dropped it off at the shop and 3 hours later got a call that it was finished.
They diagnosed and replaced a bad RR level sensor.
$175 for the part, $63 for labor, totaling $238.

I'm so releived that it was that inexpensive to fix. i can only wonder what the dealership would have charged for the same repair.

Too bad I don't have the diagnostic equipment. Sounds like it was a very quick and easy fix.

Mechanic also recommended some service that he would perform, but interestingly, he also mentioned some work that he couldn't do. He said I was ready for rear shocks, but he only uses original or Geman parts and can't get shocks for my R350. He said it was a dealer only item.

Advice or Comments????.........

Funny he doesn't think he can get the parts from the MB dealer. You as an owner should be able to buy the parts from the dealer. I was under the impression that most indie shops buy their OE parts from the dealer using their tax ID to get a mechanic's discount.

I thought the same, that's why it sounded strange. Possibly I misunderstood him. In any case, the vehicle is out of warranty so I'm not determined to have Mercedes parts. I'm guessing there are some quality shocks out there that could be an option. I was hoping someone would recommend a less expensive alternative to the dealership shocks.

Some parts are available through the dealer only. Mercedes generally uses Bilstein or Sachs suspension. I checked with Worldpac -one of the largest parts distributor of OEM and OES parts and they do not have any rear suspension parts available.

I have the same problem with mine, but with the front. I changed the right one last October by myself, which cost me $1100, and now I have to replace the left one. The dealer quoted me $2000 to replace. When I changed the right front one, it threw the leveling out of sync. I took it to a Mercedes mechanic (not MB Dealer), and he did not do it right, because it is still lower on the right side (front and back). The Airmatic is now optional, which is now normally installed only on the rear. Most likely, the rear right bag is cracked and leaks air. They are easy to replace, but you have to get it leveled with STAR Diagnostics.
