With some help from this thread Telematic Info I finally finished this retrofit. Mine came with Tele-aid and pre-wire for cell phone.

Here is the outline of what I did. I will go into more details in followup posts.

What you need to buy:
1. Vehicle core kit; including MHI (ie. UHI) and linear compensator.
2. Vehicle completer kit for R-class.
3. Bluetooth dongle, either MB OEM or ViseeO MB-2.

What you need to do to install:
1. Remove/install right side 2nd row and front seats and lining underneath to get access to footwell that MHI mounts into. It took me 2 hours.
2. Remove/install spare tire mount to mount linear compensator. Took 30 minutes.
3. Remove/install driver seat and lining underneath to change optical wiring for amplifier if you have premium sound system as I do. Took 45 minutes.
4. Remove/install front passenger right side footwell panel to change optical fiber wiring. Took 20 minutes.

Star tool configuration:
1. Select retrofit MOST modules and reset the MOST circle. This allows the telematic unit be recognized by COMMAND unit.
2. Set up microphone. Mine is an older mirror type with 4 microphones.
3. Set tele-aid primary and secondary antenna resistance to <1 ohm to avoid error message.
4. SRS warning will pop up since you removed the seats. Do quick scan and clear error codes to get rid of the message. If everything is installed correctly, you should not see any error message after another quick system scan.

Now all you need to do is plug in the bluetooth dongle and pair/sync with your phone and car. Mission accomplished.

2. ViseeO MB-2 bluetooth
3. Old style mirror that has 4 microphones.
4. Part numbers
5. Vehicle Core Kit

Thanks. $1300??? @ dealer including labor.

My TOMTOM Go 720 GPS just do fine for me now in pairing my cell phone via blue tooth w/ phone book, store ton of MP3 song and pictures in Flash Drive.

Cool. That's the beauty of DIY. Knowing that my amateur labor worth $100+ per hour makes me feel good.

Is the monitor on the right for backup cam? I have a set of license plate-mounted backup cam for my next project. Still thinking about going OEM but after all these PITA for telematic...need some rest.:surrender:

Yes, that is the LCD monitor for back up camera.
My next project is 6 disc DVD changer that will be connected to that LCD monitor so the passenger can watch DVD video beside my 10.2" LCD Monitor Overhead DVD Player.

nanoera, where did you get the two kits? Your dealer or online? And how where you able to edit the star configuration?

I impressed and do respect you effort to integrate the OEM solution. However, this is a very lenghty procedure compared to installing Tooki (650USD) or iTronic (900USD), which provide seamless phone functions. They're not OEM, but remember that the fiber optic is running an industry protocol named MOST, and that it opens the door to clean non-OEM solutions that are MOST compliant. These 3rdparty solutions work on Mercedes, Audi, Saab, Jaguar, Porsche, and many others who have adopted the MOST standard.

I personally have installed iTronic. What is nice about it (same for Tooki) is that you can update the Parrot firmware on it so it becomes compatible with newer phones. The mercedes solution is likely based on the Parrot chip (I think every Bluetooth solution is) but I doubt you can easily make an update on it. You can see my thread about the installation.

Just bought 08 r-320 and need to know what to get to add bluetooth

Maybe you can help, I just bought my wife a 2008 R-320. It has the cradle in the center console for phone and don't know what more I need to do to allow her phone to connect to hands free system. There is phone keypad next to command and phone options in command but it just says no phone is connected. Do I need to got through the whole retrofit you did or do I just need the blue tooth module to plug into the cradle and everything will work? I will do some more searched in the forum but I am also interested in your 10" entertainment system since mine did not have any screens installed.

If you have cradle with benz logo in the centre armrest you just have to pair your phone with the car pressing the benz logo on it and make your phone available to see it.
I have it on our GL it is easy to do and works great even with Iphone.
