New R500 owner - Need some info

Hello All,

I have recently purchased a used 2006 R500 which has about 16000 miles on it. So far I like it.

I was looking to buy a minivan and a used Honda Odyssey (touring) is not coming cheap. I was then looking at the R500 and price is about 29,000 usd and liked the the interior and superior ride with all bells and wistles. I did not buy it from MB dealer. Another reason is 3-point-star on gril I am not a rich guy but hey I can never buy a $65K new mercedes either.

Anyway, I need some info from the experienced people here. I need to take the vehicle for somewarranty repairs - the A/C controls right knob is little loose and rattle on driver's side door especially in the morning . Car came with 18" wheels multi-spoke (design II ?)

Since the vehicle is still under warranty, does the dealer obey the warranty WITHOUT ANY RESERVATIONS eventhough I bought it is used ? What shall I take care when requesting warranty repairs? Does the dealer have previous maintainance records?

My previous vehicles are TOYOTAs. A camry (150K miles) and a 4RUNNER (200K miles - rusted but still runs strong)

From what I know the dealer can do a vehicle master inquiry and give all details about prior warranty repairs. So long as the vehicle is under warranty, the repairs are supposed to be performed. Having said that, it really is hard to day whether the dealer will put up a fight on your behalf if something is seriously wrong.

You can take your R500 to any MB dealers for warranty repairs. The dealer can tell any warranty information on your car from your VIN #. Just make sure the items are repaired under the warranty before proceeding any repairs.

Last week I took my R350 in for repairs for erratic functions on a/c control knob and also for the rattle noise from doors. Everything were repaired under warranty (door seals replaced & software update for the a/c control) and I've got a c-class loaner car as well.

I bought an 03 SL500 and my 07 R500 from a resale shop, www.selectautoimports.com. I got all my warranty work done and covered by the local MB dealer.
