We're at the end of our lease on our '06 r class and considering getting a new one or maybe a GL. The kids (8 & 10) thought the GL was awesome. I don't like it $10,000 better than the R.
3 questions:
1. Are they no longer offering leather on the r class? Everything the dealer seems to find in production is mbtex and I haven't seen leather on the updated web-site.
2. Anyone have any experience with the new navigation/command system? It looks interesting...just wondering if they actually improved it.
3. Is the bench seat as comfortable as the captains seats?
I have to say that I've had a love/hate relationship with my r350. I had an E320 before this and loved it, but we needed more room. I've made my share of trips to the service dept for non life-threatening issues. I swore I wouldn't have another MB.
However, we've made 4 trips across the country as a family over the last year and it remains the perfect vehicle for us. We just returned from a trip to New England--over 3000 miles and got 28 MPG average! I've been getting 22 in town, but we always get the best mileage at 70 mph or in the mountains. Now those trips to the service dept don't seem so bad.
Wow-you really got a great mileage-I'm impressed and even more convinced to buy R350 (current RX400h Lexus owner and getting similar on Hybrid).
Now I's hard to believe that any MB would not offer leather-didn't pay attention on the web but will definitely check as I'd never get a car without leather seats.
