Service C Cost

Can anyone tell me how much does a dealer charge for Service C on R350? I am thinking about trading in my R and if service C cost is outrageous, will speed up my decision to trade in (I am due to service C in Oct).

Thanks..

I would e-mail the service mgr at your dealer and ask him point blank how much will it cost and what is included (if you get this info, please post it!). I have 24,500 miles on my car and have had the following since purchased: A, B, and B; not sure why B came up twice. Just had B done last week and now the indicator says D will be due in 10,000 miles (not sure why C was skipped). I'm in the same boat as you -- wondering what's included and how much will it cost. Unfortunately, Mercedes websites aren't helpful at all as to what's needed at each -- I've even gone to their dealer/technician-oriented websites and they're clear as mud! As best as I can tell, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H is their old way of doing things (until 2005), when they still had their Flexible Service System. I'm guessing since the R was developed when they still had their old system, it still has vestiges of this system in its onboard computer, but there doesn't appear to be any literature explaining itfor the 2005+ cars. I did find some old service-dept literature (2001) that said that Service A required 1 hr of labor, B required 2, C required 3, D required 4, ... and so on all the way to H requiring 8 hrs (holy crap!!). Plus you need to add parts costs, but they don't clearly spell out what parts are needed at each Service even for the older cars. Besides the well-documented reliability issues, this is to me the most maddening thing about Mercedes ownership -- maintenance intervals that are way too complicated. Otherwise I really like my vehicle. Compare this to BMW, which has only 3 Service levels: Oil Change, Inspection 1 and Inspection 2. Many BMW dealers (and independents) post online their prices for each of these 3 services and many even spell out what exactly is included with each. There is no need to search for this information. Why can't Mercedes do this??

Agree with you on all points. My main problem with MB is reliability. From what I see in owning the R350 for about 20 months now, long term reliability is going to be an issue. I would rather ditch the R now and get a Toyota Sienna than spend 100's on C service knowing that longer term I have to shell out even more due to reliability issues.

I doubt if my R350 would be as reliable a car like my Toyota Camry. 5 years and 50,000 miles later, all I have done in the Camry are oil changes, tire rotation and a spark plug change at 36k. With zero defects so far and a ride that still seems as good as when I first bought it, it simply amazes me how can these guys make cars so good, so consistenly.

As for the R350 costs, I emailed a dealer in Manhattan, NYC and have yet to receive a response. Will call them and post what I find.

C service is $300+tax.

Most service dealerships (what I'm told from the 2 MB dealers here in Austin area) are classifying all services now as A & B type of services, and are doing everything by mileage (tire rotations, brakes, etc., etc.)

My C service including flushing brake system and rotating balancing tires was approx. $365 range or so. Can't remember exactly but it's in the ball park.

Sorry folks, When owning the Luxury Mercedes, It is the high price to pay for the service.
if you can afford buying the Mercedes, you can afford the maintainance.

You totally missed the point of the post. There is a difference between paying $$$ for maintenance on a reliable luxury car (Lexus for example) and paying $$$ for maintenance on a "luxury" car (R350) who reliability is suspect as each month passes by. In the latter case it is money down the drain. In the former, it is worth it.

No, I got 10K off the list price. This is why I bought Mercedes. My 2007 RL is much more reliable and cheaper in term of services.
Mercedes vehicle is over price and I never pay the MSRP.

Two things I am quite sure:
1. I will sell my R500 as soon as the warranty runs out.
2. I won't be buying another MB.

Not to be off topic, how is your Xenon headlight? any code comes up in your instrument cluster.
I have asked my nephew who lives in Holland to buy for me the OSRAM night breaker bulbs but he only find Phillips bulbs and it's called NightGuide iso Nightbreaker.
Price is 40 euro, that's about 60 US dollar.Philips NightGuide: Advanced Halogen Technology

This is what he told me about his Xenon bulbs:
" I have installed it in my car and that way better, only more expensive.
Price is about 90/100 euro's."

I am debate on it, if it is easy to install and will not voil MB warranty.
