MB hourly rate is way over $87 in the Bay Area, actually way over $100.

Same here in Princeton, NJ - $110 per hour. Nice business, I must say.

Thanks. Appreciate the data -- I think I would have to completely go the Do It Yourself route if I lived in SF.

Anyone knows what is E Service? I just bought my 2006 R500 couple days ago and it says the E Service is going to due in 20 days.

I would recommend that if your personal mechanic does repairs on MB go thru that route and save yourself time and money. Obviously, MB are expensive to buy and own - we all know that, the problem is that MB makes there money not on the vehicle they sell but on the parts and labor they charge the owners of their vehicles. Therefore, as many of us have mentioned already via the exorbitant service requirements A/Bs. In addition, I would agree that the reliabitliy of the R is still in review. I would also recommend getting an extended warranty. The warrantly is cheaper then paying out of pocket expensive repairs and over time will save you alot of money if you are like a few of us that will keep the vehicle for long term use. Again, if your mechanic repairs MBs they will have the computer to reset any codes and service indicators and they will charge you far less then the labor cost from MB. I also recall that other companies make brake parts for MB and rotors for MB at a fraction of the cost. these are my opinions.

not to get off topic but do all dealers use this alphabet schedule ? It's seems like my dealership just uses A & B. So can someone tell me what service is needed next, I have an 06 with 15,000 miles ? ? ?

If you bought the car from a MB dealer, I would ask them to do the service for you for free.

I believe your car would tell you what service will be needed, mine said Service "F" in 12,000

So, does anyone know what is being covered in Service "E"?

Btw, I do agree regarding the extended warranty comment. No doubt that I am buying it especially my R is fully loaded with those expensive toys....
