What year do you have? I would like that info so we can see if 06's more problematic than 07's. I'm guessing you have 06 based on your mileage but it's always possible its an 07 (I've put 10,500 on my 07 in 6 months).

2006 R500 - 15K MILES
Rattle/creak in the pano roof. Existed since new. Had dealer try to fix twice with no success. Doesn't happen during straight line bumps, but rather when the vehicle's chassis is flexing such as hitting a dip or bump while taking a curve.
Rattle in steering column. Haven't taken it in for that yet.

May 2007 R350, about 3000km, only problem so far is a piece of trim near the overhead light has come off, which I think has more to do with my son than mercedes build quality.

7000miles - alignment
12,240 miles - Bad Code, Travel sensor has an electrical fault, and Brake Booster replaced
17,265 miles - Crank Shaft Position sensor needed to be coded
Biggest problem...cover on driver side mirror broke off!!!!!
Other than that, not really any problems. I couldn't get the TPMS sensors to recalibrate, but it seems that when the dealer CPO'd the car, they replaced the tires, and forgot to put the sensors back in/on the rims. Dealer fixed after 1 day in for service, and they threw in an "early" oil-change & brake check.
Only other problem is trying to keep the light ash interior clean with 3 kids!
I have put over 7,000 miles on the car since I bought it three months ago. Absolutely love the damn thing, but now I wish I bought the R500 or R63 for the power and should have fully loaded it out on options. I didn't realize how difficult MB's would be to "upgrade".
Other than that...problem free and still fully in love. Now....where is that wood to knock on?

No major problems .Only problem I can think of is water not draining after I drove in heavy rain, problem later diagonised as water drain valve inadvertently plugged .
Average Mileage is 19.8 (city /Highway combined).Only concern with my R is parking and backing up due to its lentgh
I am driving a Honda since 98 and I agree Honda is reliable but there is no way you can compare the features of Honda and Mercedes .I briefly owned a Acura MDX and sold it in favour of my R . Acura is a glorified version of Honda
and does not desreve comparison with Merc or any other European car.

While Toyota and Honda/Acura are certainly not in the same class as Mercedes, there is absolutely no reason Mercedes cannot be closer to them, if not equal, in build quality. The people who have been kind enough to post their experiences have noted numerous mundane issues such as loose hardware, oil leaks, failed power steering pumps, ... that would rarely occur in a Honda or Toyota. Some Germans have defended the recent problems with Mercedes and to some extent BMW by pointing out that they have a lot more advanced technology in their cars than the Japanese. Fair enough, but the failures I see are not with the advanced technology (except for perhaps the transmission problems) but with basic automobile assembly practices in the factory. While I am overall very happy with my R320, I was STUNNED when it developed an oil leak in the 1st 3 months. I had thought oil leaks on new cars had been resolved decades ago!

Great comfort. Tranny issues. Jerky between 1 and 2 gear. Two software updates not much different. Liftgate problems every once in a while.
Rattling windows - dealer replaced seals - still rattle.
Rear passenger side shock replaced - fixed clunking noise over rough roads
Jerky transmission shifting - even though I have an 07 - reprogrammed trans - better now - not 100% - but noticed more power.
Anyone ever realize t hat when you press the AC/REST button it randomly wacks the AC? In my opinion - the AC/REST button should be disabled while AC is on. The role of teh AC/REST button is to cool or heat the car when ignition is off. So why the heck is it active in a running vehicle. It says it will shut down the AC in the manual. Weird. I even called MD on star and they were stumped also.
