To THR500:

The Daimler/Chrysler Warranty is thru Chrysler which is expected as this is the same warranty that Chrysler Dealers sell.

For Warranty work you take your vehicle to any MB dealer.

Manwagon, I agree...not sure why more don't jump on the lifetime Sirius deal. The content on Sirius is great, I'm a little disappointed that the R350 we just picked up wasn't equipped with it (I could pay more to get it installed just as I did my car that didn't have it factory equipped but it's my wife's car and she couldn't care less about Sirius.) Looks like you got a very good deal on your warranty. If I knew I'd be keeping this R350 for the long haul I'd explore the option further but I'm not sure how the R will perform in the reliability category being a first year (MY2006) with a May 2006 build date. Being unsure of that I could see myself looking for a good clearance deal 3 or 4 summers down the road.

Which leads me to a question for RH...you mentioned this might be your last Mercedes....why? Because you love it and will last a long time or more likely you've had too many issues/problems?

Also, what is the first month/year build date for the R class? I know they came out for 2006 MY, but I'm wondering if they were out in 2005 or 2006 and when they started building them.

Thanks again!
Kraven, I think that's for me...

Actually, I've never liked the MB brand even though my father drives MB exclusively since I was 12 (maybe that was the reason lol). We bought the R Class because of my wife liked it and I don't see us driving another R Class 7 years from now...would R class still exist then?

As for the current car, it's my wife's daily driver and our family car so I drive it only in the weekend. We did have problem with the ESP which the dealer replaced some parts and fixed it within two days. I wish I have the Xenon lights, other than that, everything seems to be fine.

THR500 I bolded that b/c I blew it by referring to you, from memory (bad one in this case) as RH....Yep, that question was for you, thanks for answering.

Our situations are identical in that the R350 will be my wife's daily driver and I'll drive on weekends and road trips most likely. We got a very good deal on the car being that it was one of only a few MY06 still on the lot...paid $39,500 for it, 60 miles on the clock. I'm pretty confident that I will just trade it in or sell it PP within 3 or so years and look for another good deal at that point.

I've always been hesitant to buy Mercedes b/c of all the quality issues I've heard, particularly out of Vance. My wife drove this decision (no pun intended) and has wanted the star on the hood for a few years. I'll tell you what, I've been impressed with the handling and ride quality of this hunk of metal and I find myself enjoying the idea of owning a Mercedes! At the end of the day the smile I saw on my wife's face after the test drive was worth it and we worked a pretty good deal as well.

Same here. We bought the car on her birthday.
