Static in audio sound

hi everyone, new R CDI owner here.. quick question.
1. turned the car on.
2. selected CD.
3. hear static.
4. tried next track, same static
5. tried sat radio, same static
6. powered off the sound system, then back on. same static
7. drove home. turned the car off, then on. static GONE.
this is on the optional Harmon Kardon system with NAV.
Anyone here have had this problem?
any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have an R320 with HK and NAV. Never had static problem with any audio sources (CD disks, MP3 disks, Sat radio, FM radio, or RSE rear audio DVD disks). Try all different audio sources and if all (or any) have statics, you should bring it to the service dealer. The sounds are optically wired with fiber optics, so sounds should be crisp and clear!

You were polling for information on ML 320 CDI a couple weeks back. How did you end up with an R? I bought one from an MB in Germantown, MD back in March.

my wife liked the way the R drove, rode, and look much better. I didn't really mind as long as it was a diesel. So here we are, with an R diesel..

the problem with taking it to the dealer is that if I can't repoduce the problem on command it will be hard if not impossible to diagnose. I don't want them monkeying around if they don't have to. I don't want other problems to be created while trying to diagnose another relatively (so far) minor issue.

Agreed on minimizing the dealers monkeying on our cars. Although I bought the car in Germantown, I found the Bethesda dealer provide the best services. I tried them all in Tysons, Germantown, and Bethesda. Hope this helps.

That's great. My family (wife and 3 kids) best choice is the R after test driving and pricing the ML, R, and GL. Mine is White/Macademia well equipped with PPII, dual RSE DVD, Xenon lights, and front heated seats. What colors/options on yours?

MB diesel rocks.

ours is pewter/black with PPI, NAV, roof rack. Wanted the lighting package, but no one had it and was told that it was only available as a factory installed option. Oh well...
And yes, the diesels are awesome.
