Thanks | Wow, that hurts...10K miles! The seller should have signed an affidavit for the number of miles on the vehicle in order to transfer the lease. I don't know what recourse the buyer may have, but I would definitely contact an attorney and seek damages.
It would be stamped in the service manual if the shop chose to do so. Contact the dealership to take a reading, I believe they can tell at what mileage the computer was reset at it's last service. Now, if the seller actually completed the service is another question.
