R Owners - Explain Consumer Reports to Me - PLEASE
Why do they give the R a worse than average reliability? WIth the exception of four of the 16 surveyed areas, the rest of the areas are stellar. And the four areas with bad marks could be only because of the respondents' own personal perceptions and not empirical data.
Do I sense bias here? (BTW, the comparative rank to other mid size SUVs has the R at -129% below average!!!!)

Don't know why either. Maybe they got a base car without the bells and whistles as I think the HK audio and power equipment excellent. Having said that, I upgraded the audio in the SL to Bose and it's very disappointing.
Well, typically, the ratings for current model year or 1 year old cars is worse when you look in consumer reports. Not sure why. Honestly, they are great if you're buying a toaster, but for a car, I don't put much faith in them.
There weren't too many R owners to start with, if a few owners gave it a bad rep its rating goes down to drain.
I totally agree! Also, I seem to be more apt to responding to surveys if I'm unhappy with a product than satisfied. I've had my R for 1 year now, I'm very satisfied with it's reliability and performance.

Someone correct me if I wrong, but I believe they're refering to "fit and finish" the gaps between body panels and the body panels themselves. Hood, doors, fenders, quarter panels, tailgate. Are they equal, aligned, etc...
When I took delivery of my R fit and finish was not perfect, but it was and remains exceptional. Our ML, built in the same facility, rates the same.
