I noticed during a long trip we took over the weekend that if by mistake the cruise control lever (which is close to and same length as the turn signal lever) is moved up (while trying to signal right) during merge the vehicle speed increases by 5 mph (if you are driving in cruise control). This could lead to accidents if the drivers intention was not to increase the speed but to indicate the turn signal. Anyone has similar experience? I feel this is a flaw in the design.
I got your point but then you can use brakes to make it slow/stop. And also with the R class shifter sometimes I mistakenly use it as a signal turn (got an ML).

This is normal MB cruise control operation. Previous MB owners won't notice. There is a big pedal on the right which will increase speed too but I don't consider it a safety hazard.

This is true, positioning is standard. Like the pride of MB ownership, you'll get used to it!

Unless some shit keys your car... Then pride turns to wondering why you work hard (6 days a F’ing week!) to buy nice things and those who see those nice things and think why they don't have nice things (because they are lazy shits?) key your car. I am making no sense, just like the person who keyed the rear quarter panel of my "R" Friday night!
Could someone explain this better please... I am so pissed!
You make PERFECT sense. Those shitheads deserve to go to hell. If you're jealous, get off your lazy asses and go back to school or work!!

Try it out first and reply.
If you are changing lanes then you are travelling diagonally and thus you are slower compared to someone travelling in a straight line.
It is better to accelerate in this case than to slow down. It is a mistake that most people make changing lanes causing those behind to think the person is slowing down.
I always increase my speed when I am changing lanes.
Why would I signal a lane change and not do it ? Wouldn't there be a 2 second gap in front of me ?

That's not what he's trying to get at though. He mistakes the cruise control stalk for the turn signal stalk easily and is ranting. What you say is true though.

Hey JP, I feel for you. LED Tailights, silver interior accents, Brabus tuning, etc...you're really passionate when it comes to your R!
One Christmas Day I lent my 6 month-old 3 Series Bimmer (European BBS Body Kit, BBS Wheels and P7's, sports suspension, the whole 9 yards) to my brother-in-law to visit his mother on the "less fortunate" side of town. While looking out the front window, my brother-in-law saw four guys kicking in every panel on my car while a fifth guy was jumping up and down on the hood! I spent a little time trying to figure that one out.
Good thing there are alot more of us staring in the rear view mirror when you're coming up from behind and cranking are necks while you drive by!
I feel your pain. It hurts when a stranger ruins your car. It's even worse when it is someone you know. I bought a new car with BBS wheels and high performance rubber. The car was 3 days old when I let a friend take it for a spin in his apartment complex. It was the middle of a weekday hence the parking lot was empty, the sun was out, the concrete was dry, and he hit a curb. The wheel was ruined along with the tire. OUCH ! Not a word out of him, no apology, no offer to pay for the damage. 7 months later he did the same in another parking lot.
I learned my lesson albeit a very expensive lesson. I dumped the clumsy ox as a friend.
Strangers ooh and ahh over the car. I get compliments every day (the car is over 4 years old now). Meanwhile my former friend has been in at least 2 more accidents with his car, and his girlfriend ran it into a post in her parking garage. It looks like crap (how was that for getting even?).
Best thing I ever did was buy the car. Second best thing was to dump him.
With friends like this, who needs strangers to trash your car?
