I've used custom windshield sunshades (manufactured by Covercraft or OEM made by the same) on all my vehicles for over 20 years. You can't beat the custom looks or protection compared to others out there.
I ordered one from Autoanything.com which was shipped directly from Covercraft, it was manufactured in two pieces...a left and a right piece. It works well and still looks good.
My question is, has anyone purchased one of these shades directly from MB, and is it one piece or two?
Thanks for answering the question my local parts department at MB didn't know. It wasn't available from the warehouse when I purchased my R350 so they've never seen one.
I guess the mere weight of it (not to mention the size of it while folding and un-folding) is an issue. In our '06 ML the weight of it pulls the sunvisors down, which holds it in place, and allows the UV rays to come shining through.
Two piece it is!

There is a big difference in temperature when using the shade.
I believe the cost was $50.

Steve is right, I forgot to mention there is a very noticable difference in the temperature of your car, especially if you combine it with tinted windows.
Here in the High Desert above Los Angeles, it can get really hot. Sunshade up, tinted windows, and sun roof tilted open makes for a warm but comfortable entry after shopping at the mall when it's 100+ outside...cool to touch steering wheel and front seats too!
On all my previous cars with sunroof I was able to leave my shade cracked at about 2 inches and then till the sunroof so the hot air escapes but on the R both shades on the Panarama roof my be fully opened for me to tilt the roof. This allows sunlight through the glass which in turn heats up the interior. Any way around this?

Good Point on the R-Class. I was referring to my overall experience with my vehicles over the last 20 years.
I drive the R350 maybe once a week. I didn't even realize it till you made your post that you can't tilt the sunroof with the shades undrawn.
I don't really feel comfortable leaving the door or quarter windows slightly open. What will I do
