Can anyone tell me if I can listen to the movie playing on my RSE System DVD player through the main speaker system, or is it audible though the headsets only? My dealership could not answer this question. Thanks!
If you've got the dual screen version, yes you can hear through the speakers (not sure about the single screen version). You have to select rear on the main audio screen.
I've actually run my Ipod through the aux input on the dvd player as well ( don't get the steering wheel function but cheap alternative to integration kit)

Thanks for the response "mecl." Yes, I have the factory installed dual screen. I tried selecting "rear" on the main audio screen and was presented with a screen with the following choices: Off, Radio, CD(single), CD(changer) and AUX. No success in hearing audio through main system. I wonder if my unit is defective...
If you have the dual screen set up and want to listen to the audio through the main speakers, hit "AUX". Your dual screen set up is run to the aux jack on the back of the radio ( this is the reason why you can't have an Ipod integration kit as well) So, if that doesn't work, must have a wiring issue. The singel screen version only works with the hedphones.
Were you able to resolve this or DVD still only plays thru the headphones. Are the headphones wireless?
Thanks!
Yes, I just picked up my vehicle from the dealership yesterday in fact. They somehow were able to hook up the Rear Seat Entertainment System so that the DVD audio is played thru the main speakers, and I did not lose the use of the iPod kit. However, the signal from the RSES is low and I have to turn up the volume a bit more, otherwise all is working well.
There is a MB service bulletin that came out last week addressing this issue. It calls for a module that needs to be installed allowing you to have both the RSES and iPod intergration kit with no reduction in signal. This part has been ordered to arrive in a few days and I expect to have it installed within the next few weeks.
All this work is being completed by the dealership at no cost to me, and a free loaner is being provided while the work is performed.
I don't have the service bulletin number available at the time of this post. I will post the service bulletin number here in a couple of days.
BTW, headphones are not wireless.

Thanks for replying. I will be picking mine up next week and it also has the factory RSES and iPod. It is a relatively late build and I am wondering if this issue might have bee resolved at the factory. I would greatly appreciate the service bulletin no. and maybe some directions from your service advisor on how they fixed the issue so that I can tell my dealer to take care of it before i pick up the car. I can wait to pick up the car since I do not need it immediately. If you would rather not post the name of your service advisor/dealership, please PM me or send me an email.

I believe this is the tech bulletin number: DTB-T-B-82.60/508 Sorry, not sure of the format. I copied it as shown on my invoice. I'll post the results once I have the part installed in a few weeks.
