R-Class DVD Navigation - Comes with MY 2005 C-Class & CLK-Class DVD

Hi All, Just bought R350 (saks edition). I was a great fan of audi and drove A4-A8. Very much use to of easibility specially very agressive navigation. I did not liked the Audi Nav and was thinking Mercedes should have better. It is even worst. The DVD I got was labeled "Nvaigation DVD for Command Model Year 2005 C-Class & CLK-Class" the part number is BQ 6 46 0204 and version is 2004.1. I cannot find even Toy's R US, Wal-Mart, etc which are in my area from almost, well they were all the time there.

Want to ask all buyers of R-Class, what DVD version they got when they bought R. Is everybody have same feeling that MB Nav is really bad or I am missing something?

Also, Is there anyway to add custom POI, like garmin. I know its DVD based but can we add custom POI and burn DVD (including original DVD contents + custom POIs).

The one I got with my car was the "Navigation DVD for MCS", part number BQ6460212. I believe it's the 2005 version.

I haven't had much of an opportunity to play with it, but I sure hope it's better then the one I had in my BMW X5.

I just bought the R-Class which comes with 2004.1 version. I just checked and there is already 2006.1 released. I should have got the 2006.1 instead 2004.1. My R (December delivery) came with the 2005.1 DVD. You should insist on a newer version.

Why don't you take it back to the dealer and tell them you need to have the current version, not a two year old one.

I will definitly talk to my dealer.. Thanks everyone. meanwhile what do you guys think about the navigation? and what about custom POI? Is there anyway you can pre-store your locations in command?

The nav is ok, once you learn how to use it, and it isn't as easy or intuitive as others out there. I think you can prestore destinations and POIs. Read the manual, although the book isnt always easy to understand either.

I was ambivalent about getting the nav, but now that I have it, I use it often and consider it a good feature.

R350 TOOK DELIVERY MARCH 23 AND HAVE THE 2006 R CLASS CD FOR THE NAVIGATION. I WOULD TELL THE DEALER TO GIVE THE THE MOST RECENT CD.

What about the POI Database. I could not find very common stores like Wal-Mart, toys 'r us etc. The nearest walmart it showed me was 512 miles away while I knew personally that there are 3 Walmart in 25 mile range. I also carefully check with all possible combinations as well.

Took delivery on my R350 on 05/30. Vehicle production date of 04/2006, came with Nav DVD Model Year 2005/2006 C-Class & CLK-Class, Model Year 2006 M-Class & R-Class Part No. BQ 6 46 0213. Shopping and business center (like FeEx Kinkos) locations are limited. Restaurant POI's seem to be okey here in Los Angeles.
