I'm considering an R350 to replace my 2003 Honda Odyssey. The Odyssey does everything almost perfectly. The one major complaint-and it's the reason I'm considering the switch is the unacceptable level of road noise in the Odyssey. Unfortunately for the Odyssey, I'm comparing noise levels to my other car- a 1997 S500. Hardly fair but nonetheless has considerably lowered my threshold for unwanted noise.
There was one post here that complained about the level of road noise on a pre-production R-Class. Can anyone who has taken delivery comment or give their opinion?
Many thanks!
Paul Hansen

For 30k less than a 6 cyclinder R.
No no no, why are you encouraging him to get an Odyssey? Although I do like the active noise cancellation. Same one as in the Acura TL? I wish they put xenons in minivans. Still, only the Sienna XLE Limited has it.
Yeah, come to the MB board and try to get Honda customers... if anyone is here and considering a Honda over the R, then it is purely budget speak.... not that there is anything wrong with that.... but after only one day of R ownership, hearing someone think a Honda is a better choice than the R, because of active noise cancelation is just weird thinking
The reason they need active noise devices is because there is noise to begin with.... the construction of the R eliminates any need for such marketing gizmos.
The R is so satisfting, it's not funny.
Oh, my concerns about the R not being powerful enough have been eliminated. There is plenty of power... I tried all of the steep LONG hills in my neighborhood... and it climbs with ease.

Respectfully, I currently own two MBs and have posted nearly 900 times on this board over the last several years. I am well into the demographic for this vehicle.
I have 3 daughters ages 3, 5, and 7. My wife and I were thrilled when we heard rumor of a Benz alternative to our Honda. We are just addicted to pushing a button and having the doors slide open or closed without whacking the car next to us. In 2 or 3 years our youngest will be better suited for an R, and we will probably get one. In fact we have decided to not get the new Odyssey in favor of keeping our exsisting one until we get the R.
You will just have to trust me that if the R did everything for us that the Honda does, we would buy it. Yesterday.
We are the target market. My neighborhood is filled with garages that have Toyota Siennas sitting next to high end cars for lack of a better family truckster.
