DVD Video system not yet available - Benzworld.org

I had an R-500 on order with the DVD video entertainment system option, but found out today the car will be built next week without the system. Apparently there are some problems...so I will pass on the car until it is available. If you want this great option, which will be great for family, you will have to wait like me. Anyone heard when it will be available?

I heard the delay is due to software. Someone indicated sometime in November or so on an earlier post. No problems except the DVD code firmware had to be updated and it won't be available until late this month and then it takes a month or so to get it into the production cycle.

Nothing specific on a release of the R63 but I would think as a 2007 model late next year maybe?

For what it's worth, I found an article in the below link states the R55 will come first in spring 2006 followed by the R63.

That article was written in April or so. Since that time MB has announced and is showing the R63 Vision at Frankfurt. Whether they forego the R55 at this point is not clear but it looks like the R63 will be released next summer or so?

An R is useless to me without the DVD entertainment system and navigation.

This pushes it close to $70k...for the 350.

With 3 small children, the Honda Touring may be a better choice for $40k.

In two years I will buy a loaded 2006 R500 with 20,000 miles for $50k. Still under factory warranty and brand-new perfect.

My youngest will be 5, and the advantages of the Honda will have disappeared for us.

I can't wait.

In case anyone is interested...I just learned the DVD Video system can be dealer installed in the near future. Beginning in December, it can be built in the car at the factory.

Hello gang, I am new to the site. In regards to the DVD entertainment system...I replaced the factory headsets with ML style headsets with 7 inch TV's in each with one. Thus, a total of 4 TV's and 2 DVD players built into the screen. This allows for each row of seats to watch 2 seperate movies allowing for sound to go through the wireless headsets or through the radio. The radio can be tuned to an FM frequency to let the sound blast through the Harmon Cardon sound system in my R500. Killer quality!! My 3 girls love it!
