RE: Look what I saw today...

mbmkr - thanks for posting. Was it you I saw on I-20 this past Sunday near Six Flags Atlanta around 930am?

By your ability to post photos taken from the inside of the vehicle, your comments about ride quality and your username I think its a pretty fair assumption that you work at the plant in Vance.

With that said I like to see if you would answer a few simple questions:

1. Has R class production officially started? If so, is it on the new line or the ML line?

2. What exactly was the delay in the ML production the last few weeks? Did the line stop during this time or just slowed down? Is it backed to normal yet?

3. Have you seen the new Alpine Rain color on a ML or R? Can you get some photos of it for us?

Thanks.

If you feel uncomfortable posting your response here then feel free to send them via private message to me.

RE: Look what I saw today...

When will they start selling the R-Class in the US?
Does Mercedes offer a "Diesel"- engine?

Here in Germany we have to wait till January 06 to get the "European" version, which is only 4,90 meters

see the picture from the "AMG-EDITION",

RE: Look what I saw today...

The R Class (LWB) will go on sale in September in the US. Orders are being accepted now...mine will be built in the first 10 days of September. There still is no pricing available.

They will offer a diesel but in the US that is an unknown date. Most suspect mid to late 2006 as a 2007 Model. The ML will also offer a diesel option at about the same time. The diesel will be available in Europe in January I would imagine in both the R and the ML.

Seems like old news, but here is an R500 I spotted in Galviston on the 4th of July.

RE: Look what I saw today...

As Jack says...it never gets old to see pics of the R Class.

Great shots and thanks for posting. That Black looks great but I am past the time for constant upkeep...:-)

RE: Look what I saw today... (Galviston)

It was my first experience with Texas' Gulf Coast and I liked Galviston. Galviston is surprisingly low-key and the working harbor is pretty neat with lots of oil services activity and what I expect was a shrimp boat in the middle of the activity. I stopped at the beach but didn't spend any time there.

The town itself has an interesting mix of grand old homes and buildings, a pleasant (if smallish) tourist stretch (the Strand) and a lot of under-appreciated buildings.

Seems Galviston is ready for gentrification.

Lookout, Rodney! U know as well as I do that Statroops masquerade as broken down motorists now and ping you with a laser gun!LOL[:D]

You stated in another post that the factory was closed for tours right now. Do you know when they will re-open? If so, PM me and let me know. We want to go!

Nothing for certain but they are saying 2006. It is worth the trip, especially if you take factory delivery.
