Arrow Service Indicator Reset - B200 turbo

Hi All, isn't that funny... At some point we all have a question and when this happens we decide to join a forum where we can get help. Often after we get help, we disappear again in cyberspace... Before I ask my question, I want to thank those who are devoted to this forum and help others all the time. I hope to be able to contribute as well at some point. I'm here to stay as I have two MB in the house now and they will both be out of warranty soon...

So here we go. This was asked before, but it seems the help usually comes through PM:

How do we reset service indicator on B200? Mine is 2007 and it's a turbo, but I don't think it would make any difference... Correct me if I'm wrong.

Can someone give me step-by-step instructions?

I hate the fact that MB is doing this. My 2004 C230K has instructions in the Owner's Manual on how to reset the FSS message. The B class have it done that way to drag you back into their dealerships. I don't know how it works in other MB models, but I'm willing to guess all the newer ones leave the owner no choice but to take the car back to them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

George

Thanks Mike, I'll print it off and go try it... I must admit, it seems more complicated than I expected. Wish it was as simple as my C-class.

You could try this simpler-looking version. I have not used either method. Maybe they're the same!

Resetting B-Class service indicator

1. Switch on ignition

2. Press the scroll forward/back button repeatedly until the service date is displayed in the multifunction display

3. Hold down the instrument illumination rheostat and reset button for approx. 5s until the "Service Menu" appears in the multifunction display

4. Using the + and - button, setting of specific functions and volume control select the menu item "CONFIRMATION"

5. Press lower system selection button to confirm. "Full Service Confirmation" appears in the multifunction display

6. Confirm full service by pressing lower system selection button "Service confirmed" appears in the multifunction display

7. Press the upper system selection button repeatedly until the service date is displayed in the multifunction display

8. Press the lower system selection button repeatedly until the standard display
appears in the multifunction display

9. Switch off ignition

I don't think the simpler version above will work, Mike. I tried everything I could think of yesterday and one of the things I learned is that the "reset" button does nothing when display shows the service (FSS) message, regardless of how long you hold it down.

I'll go try the one in the PDF file...

Worked like a charm. Thanks Mike.

Actually the instructions look complicated, but if you know how to get in that service menu, you can just follow simple logic. I just wonder how much would the dealer charge if you had the vehicle serviced elsewhere and just need the service indicator reset by them...? Would they have the nerve to charge 1 hour labour...? Or can they refuse to reset the indicator, based on the fact they did not perform the service and cannot confirm it was actually done... Anyway, either way I'm very thankful for this forum.

Try today and it works. But anyone tried the "Vehicle handover" in the "Confirmation" menu. I tried it and it seems like a full service reset. But once performed, the "vehicle handover" item disappears from the "confirmation" menu. Anyone know its function. Is it the reset when dealer "handover" a new vehicle to customer?

Just a quick thanks.
I had tried several procedures with no luck and this one worked like a charm.

Cheers.
