There is no word about an assembly plant in China for the A and B Classes. Instead, a new factory will be functionnal in 2011 in Hungary for the new A, B Class models.
In 2009, the B Class (assembled in Rastatt, Germany) was lauched on the Chinese market, apparently with great success if you read the whole article.
... Does Eric really want an adoptee who may be going back into diapers soon
I am betting that it is only assembled in China with some local design differences. Money saved in import taxes of unfinished product would appeal to the pencil pushers back in the Father Land.

I've been in diapers for years now...or at least I feel like a baby, ...the way I'm pampered by Joanne that is....
......and they're also very comfortable(diapers) when in the kayak for long stretches. ... I know...I know........too much information.
Eric will probably be able to get some good info for us when needed.

Well everything else seems to be made in China so why not the B class.
Before I retired 3 years ago they were manufacturing most of the PC components we were using. And they were pretty well made units. With very few DOA or returns under warranty.
Rumor is even Rolex now makes some of their parts in China, but final assembly is still done in Switzerland (I have not researched this, so don't take it as gospel).

Way too much information ,I think that I may sleep with the light on tonight. Wonder where the diapers are made???? I think that I would "Depend " on locally made.
Now to go and read the posted links,,thanks guys. The world gets smaller each day. A few years ago I was in the Dominican Republic and saw a van that was made in China and was impressed with the appearance and finish.

I really didn't foresee the Internet. But then, neither did the computer industry. Not that that tells us very much of course - the computer industry didn't even foresee that the century was going to end.

I feel so miserable without you, it's almost like having you here.

We try to avoid buying things made in China, especially those that come into contact with food or involve theft of intellectual property. We're looking for a new electric kettle right now and 99.999% of them are Chinese. The search continues. All our cookware is French or Italian.
One thing I will guarantee: I will never own a car that is made in China. The Brilliance BS6 crash test is reason enough The pollution and the country's contempt for political freedom are the icing on the cake.

Actually Mike you may have the correct attitude, most of the Chinese who can afford a Benz prefer to buy an imported model.
