Hi not quite on thread but nearly, I have a 3000 Mile B180 CVT which over the last week has developed a squeak from cold in the engine area, as the revs increase the squeak occurs more often, as soon as the engine gets warm the squeak disappears.
Taking it to the dealer tomorrow before anything drops of. What do you all think it could be?
Thanks Bill I will have fun with the dealer anyway, they don't seem too pleased to hear from customers after the money has changed hands. By the way i got my best figures yet, 5.7l / 100km on a 200 km round trip.
That's a very good mileage for gas. Mine is a diesel and it's usually around 5.3-5.4 on long trips. I always drive in S, which seems to be better (more power, about the same mileage).
Tony unfortunately it is diesel and i would love to know how you get those figures. Is it CVT or manual. Did the consumption start that good or take some time? my average over the first 3000 miles is around 43 mpg which i find really high!
Well, I bought it at 80k km (about 50k miles I think), drove 5000 km so far, so I'm not sure about the mileage when it was new. But I've heard they tend to eat up more gas before the first oil change, maybe other users could confirm it.
As for my figures, I'm not really an economy driver but I don't exagerate with the pedal either. You get 90% of the torque by pressing 75% so I rarely use kick-downs too.
Driving thru down on the other hand usually goes to 8-9% and it depends a lot on the traffic. If I run into a traffic jam it goes up like crazy.
Oh, and I always drive with A/C on and lights are always on when driving out of town. This affects mileage too.
Hi Bill, I don't intend to pay them, surely warranty means something? Perhaps if they want money as well i should let the car break completely and then MB will mend it.
I wonder if they play with the computer at the first change and suddenly the car changes to an economical beast. I drive with eggs between foot and pedal. Maybe I should thrash the car for a week and teach it to appreciate careful driving.
