thanks to your help I could resolve the problem with my headlights.
First, they happened to be regular H7 halogen lamps.
Second, the bulbs were both burnt out.

Excellent! Since each headlight has a separate fuse and it seemed unlikely that these separate circuits would fry simultaneously, the burnt out headlight bulb scenario was the only one that made any sense to me.

so if I understand correctly, there are no relays to check if the standard headlamps fail on a W245. If the fuses and bulbs are OK, it is the Lighting Control Module that needs to be tested.
