New B-Class

Hi everyone.

Ordered my new car a couple of weeks ago, B150 SE in Cirrus White with electric folding mirrors, Thermotronic, electric front seat adjustment and Audio 20 CD Changer with Media Interface.

Going to Germany for factory collection - just received the letter to say that they expect the car will be ready in the last week of November.

Wondered if anyone else had been for personal collection or for the North-Americans here, the European collection? I heard there is an accessory shop at the customer centre where you collect the car? Would like to find out if it will be much cheaper to buy things there than ordering from my dealer now, as I need the cable kit for the media interface to connect iPod, etc.

Will post pics when I get the car!

Hi Mr T welcome to the forum. Good to know there is another member from the UK as our Canadian friends ranks are really swelling and they easily outnumber us Brits .

I would have loved to have collected my B from Germany (but couldn't due to it requiring mobility modifications) it must really make it seem your own car. Our friends collected their M/B (not a B though) from the Germany & I gather it is some experience.

I went to Germany just over a month ago & found that most things (goods) seemed a bit dearer than here so I can't see the cable being much cheaper there. They often appear on ebay.

I can't remember seeing a white B over here so looking forward to seeing your pictures, you have made a good choice in getting the electric folding mirrors I feel that with our narrow roads & restricted parking spaces they are a 'must'. Unfortunately I was unable to get them when I bought mine.
Good luck with your new motor & enyjoy your trip to Germany.

PS make sure you have all the legal requirements (especially reflective yellow safety vests) as the French Police are getting very hot on these things (along with speeding ) with us Brits

Welcome Mr T

It will be nice to have more people from the UK on the forum, but the rest of us will spend countless hours searching the Internet. Looking up meanings of quaint English words.

Looking forward to photos.

congrats on the new car. European delivery is definitely one of those experiences I would like to try some day.

I was reading over the Volvo system the other day and it's VERY generous offer to deliver in Europe (flight/hotel/insurance included).

Add to that the incredible discounts due to their poor sales and it would have been a better deal than buying a B200.

cannot look back...B200 for the next few years and we're still loving the ultilty and the function of the car.

I am really curious what MB will do with the next generation B-class.

I hope to do a EU delivery someday too, probably of a smart BRABUS or perhaps a Porsche Cayman

Thanks, had not thought of eBay but will check that out, think it's £45 from the dealer, so sure I can do better than that.

Only managed to find a few pictures online of white Bs - went to MB World a couple of weeks ago and they had some white As, so just hoping it looks as good.

Got electric folding mirrors on my Renault at the moment so I knew it was essential - nice that you can set them up to fold automatically when you lock the car like the biggers Mercs.

I think you may be in for a bit of a shock on that I pod price on my old accessories catalogue it is shown as Ipod itegration kit at £ 172 & I think that has gone up now. I think the ebay price is not a lot cheaper.

If the 2009 model is the same as my 2007/8 then it has an Audio in socket but you don't get any control or display of the Ipod you can only change the volume from the steering wheel.

I think some of the other members have the full I pod kit & they would ba able to advise of it's full functions.

We went out for a short walk today and a white B 200 came driving past us, maybe an omen. Anyway it looked very nice and it stood out amid all the other traffic. Good choice Mr.T
I wish we had fully automatic a/c and heating on the car we have.

Welcome Mr T.

Drove by a MB dealer past weekend and saw a white B and two pre-facelifted C parked side by side. One C with factory blue tint (C55) and another (C230) with dark tint. The contrast of the dark tint on white car looks very nice.

What is the B 150 like to drive?

Some in Canada think that even the 136 HP B 200 is too slow, I disagree, mine has the manual gearbox and has a slightly greater turn of speed than the CVT (6 km/h top end and a tenth or two to 100 km/h) as a result..... but the B 150 only has 95 HP doesn't it?

And what does the "SE" specification include? We don't get such a thing in Canada.
