Well, my old car has gone - the dealer wanted it quickly so they could fence it on. So they've given me a loan car until I get mine. I have a 2008 B180 CDI auto (think it's a Sport). The car doesn't seem to have any options apart from telephone pre-wiring. Feels great to drive, wish I had opted for auto transmission now...

The other good news is that my car is built and ready. I am collecting it in Rastatt three weeks yesterday (8th Dec).

I didn't know they did factory deliveries at Rastatt. I thought they did them all from Stuttgart, no matter where the car was built!

We fly in to Stuttgart, stay there overnight and visit the MB Museum, then the next day go to the factory in Rastatt (a 2 hour drive apparantly) and tour the factory and collect the car. All of our factory collections for A and B are at Rastatt.

Well, we are back from Germany! The Mercedes Benz museum in Stuttgart is definitely worth a visit, lots of historic cars there, including the 2008 Formula 1 World Championship winning car of Lewis Hamilton.

The collection centre at Rastatt was very busy, seems many Germans collect their new MB direct from the factory. The factory tour was also very interesting, the assembly floor of the A-class. A very high tech facility, very clean and tidy inside and very efficient.

So here is the car:

We collected on Monday at 12noon and following a very exhausting drive through France, arrived in London at 11pm. The car is now with the dealership to have the UK plates attached, parking sensors installed and to be cleaned which is already much needed after 550 miles.

Looks good Mr T. Those photos always look nice under the lights

Why did they not fit the parking sensors at the factory ??

Nearly run in now I expect.

That strip below the hatch is worth having as that bumper top is very vunerable to chips & scratches. I am very glad I fitted one on mine.

Looks very nice but like Keith I wonder why the parking sensors are not factory installed. It seems like a major job to install and would be easier at the factory. Unless the Germans will not admit to having problem parking.

the chrome strip does look good, better than some of the black rubber installed on some cars.

Sweet car and I like the German delivery plates too. Congrats!

Having visited the M-B museum in Stuttgart myself on April 15th, yes it is indeed fabulous.
