Had my heart set on a 2009 but now it's not looking like they'll release them until later in August (possibly another full month) and there's still no pricing information. My wife is pushing me to get us a car (tired of the Kia rental and now 9 months pregnant) so now I'm looking around at other options to get this done - quick!
The dealer found a few suitable '08's but the first is totally decked out w/ premium, sport, turbo, etc... even with some good discounts its more than we're willing to spend, and the other one has the CVT which I understand is great but I'm still holding out for my manual
This morning I found a nice looking 2007 non-turbo which has 2 years left on the lease... It has the sport package. Couple of questions for you experts:
-Any options that the 2007 B200 lacks that now come standard on the 2008?
-It comes with the First Class lease protection - anyone know the value of that?
Any key questions I should ask the seller? It's got 19k on it...
Yeah: why would anyone sell a car with only 19,000 km on it? Crashed? Lemon? Bought more than they can afford?
Seriously, for want of a few weeks, you would skip a new car and change plans so radically?
The manual gearbox is worth the wait, believe me.
The 07s did not have the "comfort" front seats with height, lumbar, cushion angle etc adjustments. It also did not have the interior lighting package. There may also be a couple of other things.....
If it were up to me, and if I had another car to use in the mean time, I'd just settle in and wait for the '09. But the rental is costing close to a grand a month and neither of us is thrilled with the unknown aspect of (a) delivery date, and (b) the pricing of the new car.
People get out of leases for tons of reasons - I got my last car off leasebusters at 6 months in - the guy had a job offer in Australia! I'd have to look carefully at the service records on this one (to your point - maybe a lemon!?).
The main reason I'd consider it is cost - he pays ME a cash incentive (rather than me paying the dealer for delivery etc)! The downside is, of course, it's not new....

Thanks in advance, Brad
$1000/month for Kia? Are you going to Discount because they do cheap "long term" rentals for much less. You could be in a much nicer car at minimum for the same coin.
Anyway, IMHO turbo is not necessary unless you are a leadfoot and must have the torque rush (which I understand) or do a lot of 2 lane driving regularly. Plus car is cheaper.
I agree with the others and say wait, just wait it out. The 09 is revised in looks and brand new. That said, if you got yourself a killer deal there go for it but yes, make sure the car is checked over carefully by an independent.
Thanks for the feedback all.... Glad to hear (Mike) that the gearbox is worth waiting for... there's a definite "minority" of manuals out there. Don't know why (guess I blame my father), but I can't get excited about driving an automatic car, regardless of how good it is, and I understand this one is pretty good.
Sounds like the '09 pricing is coming out tomorrow so I'll see what happens.

Cheers,
There is no comparison of course between driving manual and auto. But this is "the" best automatic I have ever experienced.
