Quite surprised on the cargo capacity of this car...

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to relate a funny story that happened over the weekend. I decided to purchase a new flat screen television and I ended up picking up a 50" Samsung Plasma TV that was on sale at Best Buy. The guy asked me if I wanted it delivered and I asked if we could try to see if it fit in my car first. They brought down the box from the shelf with a fork lift and it was BIG. The guy asked me to pull up my car to the front and when he wheeled the box outside and saw my B200, he started laughing. He indicated that there was no way it would fit in my small car. I measured the box with a tape measure and after measuring the inside of the B200, it actually looked like it would fit. The guy insisted it wouldn't fit but I forced him to give it a shot. Sure enough....it fit perfectly and we didn't even have to take it out of the box!! The guy was so surprised that he called a few other sales guys over to show them. This car rocks!! 50" Plasma TV box fits in the back....hehehehe. This car is way bigger than it looks from the outside and it keeps amazing me. Its not fancy....but its very functional.

Jordan.

The "not fancy" part is what I love best. The anti-snob appeal.

Great story!

Was the floor lowered at the back? Too bad you didn't take any picture for us.

It sounds like a good story line for a Mercedes TV commercial.

Yup,

I've had quite a few cargo hauling needs like that amaze me too. I used to think our X3 was quite spacious considering it modest footprint but it holds no candle to the B

I also love how this car does everything well.

Cruises the highways like a limo- check
Handles any city challenge-check
Carries people with acres of room-check
Use it like a UPS truck-check
Bypass the Shell station more often-check
Looks expensive (but not snobby as mentioned)-check

I've said it once and I'll say it again-This IS the best kept secret

(In Canada anyway, as Europe has so many cars like this we don't get and US don't get any at all.)

No....I didn't even lower the floor. I simply flipped the back seats down and it fit perfectly. Given that I still have the empty box, I will take a picture in the next few days of the box in the back and post it. I agree with the comment that this car is very under stated and under rated. Luxury car snobs think it cheapens the brand and economy car fans think its too expensive. The reality is that its a very cleverly designed and strictly functional car. Very much a german car in all respects.

I used the B to transport a boxed 32" Sharp LCD TV last Christmas and it fit perfectly with lowered floor. I thought that was impressive.

True, cargo capacity in the B is astounding. The only disappointment for me so far has been when I go play golf, I cannot place my golf bag across the cargo area. I always have to flip my rear seats down to accommodate my golf bag, thereby eliminating another one or two people that I can carry along with me.

A minor inconvenience at best, though.
