hello people, I'm looking to buy a used 2006 b200 turbo.
does anyone know what options were standard in 2006?
also how to tell what options were purchased other than the obvious like sunroof, are the options recorded in the VIN?
any one know what the different option packages were?
anyone have a scan of the 2006 brochure?
lastly what are the differences between 2006, 2007, 2008?
Hi b200t turbo and welcome to the forum please could you let us know where you are located as models, options, etc vary country to country. I do have an early brochure (late 2005) but do not have any scanning facilities. I could give you answers to any specific option questions. I am in UK however so they may not tie up with those sent to other countries.
The only option recorded in the VIN is the engine type; "34" is the Turbo gas engine and "33" is the non-turbo 2 L engine.
I have the old brochure from Canada at home. I'll see if I can check for base equipment etc.
The base B 200 was missing a lot of things that were standard in 2008: cruise control, chrome package, seat comfort package, tilt/adjustable steering, interior lighting package, ....
I am not sure about the 2006 Turbos.
My advice would be to buy a newer one if possible and ask yourself if you would be happy filling the tank at $2 per litre. The non-turbo will drink about 15% less fuel..also, the Turbo is a handful in the wet, with traction control intervening a lot, and it's probably similar in icy or snowy conditions. Food for thought at least.

Are you kidding? I'm not happy at 1.48/l (about that for Toronto Shell Vmax)
I'm with you on the non-turbo. I have no issues with power at all. And my other car is a big engine BMW inline 6. (wish they imported the diesel BMW sells in Europe). That said I do so enjoy the silky smoothness of the world's greatest 6 cylinder (arguably I guess). It is no match for the B but when in the B I miss the BMW not at all. (Maybe because I have both who knows)
Some people though are not happy unless their car can deliver the big oomph you get in a 6 cyl or turbo version 4. I understand that, but not me. At fill-up time I love the fuel economy. With the Bimmer it is a gas-a-holic by comparison.
Bottom line if you really like a torquey shove in your backside that suits your driving needs then sure go turbo. But you will pay more for the car, perhaps some longer term durability costs (unknown if that will be factor) and at the pumps because if you toe into a turbo it will suck fuel closer to a 6 in real world.
