I don't know why it would be assumed that I purchased from Silver Star, a privately owned dealership, and not a MB Canada owned and operated dealership.
I think the best way to go is through CAA or APA to put pressure on MB Canada
I'm not worry about this, worst come to worst, I'd rent a vehicle in the USA to continue my trip. Then you get the car towed to Canada ... at the expenses of MB canada, I've got good friends of mine who are lawyers !
An other way is to get CAA, you won't have to pay for the town at least
In any circumstance, I'm not sure that dealing with GM / Ford / Chrylsers would be easier !

Maybe because of where you live?
Anyway, no matter which dealer sold you the car, corporate or not, their sales staff is not the ultimate authority on out of country repairs or warranty claims.
So I don't know why it would be assumed my email on the subject from M-B Canada's head office would be untrustworthy
I am definitely going to get BCAA, and in the event of a major car failure (say a wholly grenaded engine) while traveling, I certainly would consider flat-bedding the B back to Canada and renting something else to get home. Unless the head office tells me: "Sorry, our first email was wrong, you are covered in all respects".
Lawyers are a last resort, but bad publicity is a little more powerful tool, I think. And as much as I dislike Phil Edmunston's style, I would probably use the APA too. Hmm, maybe I should contact him now.....
I just sent a query to the APA about this, we will see what they can find out. Maybe if they're helpful, I'll send them a contribution! I can't believe I wrote that!
It seems to me that if the service/warranty situation in the USA is truly that dire, and the US mechanics' brains all turn to mush when a B-Class shows up, well at least there could be a vehicle recovery (to Canada) and trip interruption plan that kicks in.
Or does the trip interruption coverage also drop off the table across the border? The APA will maybe help answer that one too.
In any case, off to the BCAA we go, to get some backup assistance.
Hmm...That kind of talk will get you a tent in the backyard with a Joe DiPenta hockey stick to fend off the coyotes, bobcats and rattlesnakes.
(BTW - We do have geese!!! They spend a lot of time at the Chino prison grounds during the fall and winter)
Lots of coyotes near us but no rattlesnakes, we did tent once in the Black Hills and did not see any ( rattlesnakes) . I did limit my trips to the outhouse at night however.
Surprised that the prisoners have not rioted after sharing a field with geese. Maybe I'll get a trailer hitch installed and tow a trailer full of geese down south. The government here is much to liberal to imprison the geese.
CAA/BCAA = Canadian Automobile Association / British Columbia Automobile Association (AAA affiliates)
APA = Automobile Protection Association (consumer protection lobby group) with Canada's own Ralph Nader (Phil Edmunston) in charge. Phil hasn't run for the Greens yet, though he did get elected as something else......once upon a time.
