A Service at only 6700km??

Hi,

My car says I need A service in 29 days already. I drive mostly all city but am a very easy going driver. No revving or rough driving.

I am quite surprised as I thought the first service was around 15-20km.

Does that mean an oil change too?

I got the car last December only.

Well that is a surprise; mine was delivered in November, built in September and at 20,000 I will need my first service. Since yours is a 2008, maybe it was built in July 2007 and the one year clock is almost up. Did you buy one out of stock, or do a factory order? I would never buy a car from stock unless the dealer pays for the first service, because theoretically you could drive the car off the lot and it tells you that the first service is needed in one day, if the car was built 364 days earlier.

I'd take this up with the dealer as it hasn't reached either the mileage or time (1 year) criteria. If they carry on like this we will be down to monthly services.

I know someone who was able to void the first service cause he own the car for only 4 months when the OBC ask him for the service.

So it's definitely something doable

The worrying thing is what is prompting the OBC to think the car needs a service ?

Keith, I'm sorry my earlier post was confusing, it should read : CHARGE were void.

So they serviced the car, but for free

It's factory programmed. Had the dealer re-set it, the car would wait until one year from the date it's re-set. If not, the car tells you it needs a service one year from the day it was made.

It is indeed the date that it was manufactured. Mine show a march/07 built date and the OBC asked for a service in March 08

Thanks guys. I did buy the car out of stock. It was shipped from their depot and it had under 20km on the clock and the plastic so it was new.

It is another matter on when it was built and if the service indicator was reset before delivery. I will take this up with service.

Thanks again for the help.

Mitch
