I was listening to an old Car Talk show and someone from Yellowknife called so I was wondering if anyone on this forum listens to Car Talk?
I know it is not available in Canada but cities close to the US border can sometimes pick up NPR stations. We’ve gotten a pretty clear signal from a Seattle station while in Victoria. It is available overseas by broadcast, satellite and shortwave.
A lotof people seem to knock French cars without really trying them our Top Gear does I've had 2 and both have given me good service & reliability. They were far more reliable than my first B.
I can clearly recall a German friend of mine who took me on a short drive in his Renault R4 - about 30 years ago. When I commented about the strange gear shift mechanism, he said .." Don't worry. It works a lot better than it looks.".
Yup that’s Click and Clack. They also hate Hummers, cars with massive horsepower, people who pass on the right, talking on the cell phone while driving, car salesmen…the list goes on and on…probably why so many people hate them...…yet calls into the show go on and on.
Their disparaging remark about French cars has drawn so much ire over the years. Is there no in between when it comes to French cars? Love ‘em or hate ‘em?
Yes...NPR is National Public Radio. Privately supported not for profit membership organization. Some people say the much of the stuff is un-listenable and I have to agree, but Science Friday, Car Talk, Wait-Wait is entertaining and informative. There is a bit of local stuff that main stream radio won’t cover as well.
That crayon smell is still there. I was told that the car has wax applied in all the nooks and crannies for protection against the elements and I poked around to verify this. (Derek ...you listening?) I‘ve heard from others who have complained about the same thing. I guess Mercedes Benz has the job requirement that you have no sense of smell. I was also told that it would burn off over time but that is not likely to be the case. Most of the time I have the AC on so I don’t notice it and it is way, way to hot now to drive with the windows down (and no I am not bragging I HATE hot weather).
