I have a 2006 B200 with low milage. I was charged over $500 CDN for the 'B' service schedule in Montreal. The 'C' service is coming up soon and I don't want to pay this type of money. Any advise?
Another question: From the beginning the engine has made a noise, similar to a diesel engine. They couldn't find anything wrong with the car, but I read somewhere that it could be the timing belt (chain???). Anyone has had similar experience?
And finally, the back end of the car makes noises as if the springs have broken. Again, the service people couldn't find anything wrong with the car. Any advise?
Welcome to the forum. Can you please let me know who is your dealer ? I would most definitely go somewhere else ... or at least call and ask for advice.
I had a terrible experience with one dealership, I switched and never looked back since then
Hi James, and welcome to our merry group.
Daniel has had problems as have I with overcharging from the Montreal dealers.
Many on this forum talk about having their MB's serviced anywhere and keeping excellent records of what was done and MB parts being used.
My complaint with that is that dealer holds the Ace cards 'when and if' you make a warranty claim for something. You need that damn service stamp in your maintenance book. IMHO
I did the full Service B and changed my oil for Mobil 1 which the dealer wasn't going to install. I got their stamp but they charged me $370 with no parts or oil and re-did the checks etc..... A true and complete rip-off.
Have you had the brakes bled yet, and for how much??
What did they quote for the C Service and what will they do?

I forgot to address your back end noise. I had a front end noise coming from mine, I went to the dealership and they road tested my car with me. The tech told me that he had to change suspension bushing on a couple of B's. Maybe that's your problem, mine had lose break bracket ... they changed both front break bracket. And I was back in business !!
Also, when I was driving around with the tech he told me that they sold a lot of B's and they don't see them back with problems. He even told me he bought one, and that they were the most reliable in Merc fleet ...
If I hadn't taken my car in for the B service I would have thought that $500 for the B service was reasonable. However, my dealer charged me about $150. Told me the next service at 35K (service C???) would be around $400.00
The shop foreman came out to my car with me at the same time to listen to a few "noises" and what I thought was an unsteady idle. He told me he'd bought a B200 Turbo as well - and that he hadn't seen many major issues - but agreed that the B200 Turbo idle was generally poor.
I am just trying to break the monopoly in Montreal. If I find a less expensive dealer anywhere in Canada, I can make a case to my dealer and perhaps force them to decrease their services charges.
