Cool KD thats kinda what I am..

up 2.

I have a (lady) friend in Victoria, so as a last resort ( NOT MARRIED!! ) I will borrow her address for registration and insurance.
The laws HAVE changed, as no manufacturer wants this car in the US, ( MB, Ford, Honda, Toyota ).
But, I am looking for LNG version that I can't get but in Germany.

THANKS 2 U ALL.
I am still working the problem.

What about MY2007?

I'm still trying to figure out what changed between time CA-B200 got her car certified in the US and today, when it seems impossible.

There was this comment about reconciling FMVSS and CMVSS standards based on when the car was manufactured:

Quote:
After lengthy discussions with MB-Canada, NHTSA, and a RI (JK Technologies), the only way to get a 2008+MY B-class in the states now is to go through a RI who will submit a petition to the US NHSTA for the vehicle under the NHTSA "VCP" option which is for import vehicles which do not have a US equivalent but their crash test results indicate that the vehicle complies or can be modified to comply with FMVSS.

I can not imagine that the B does not meet the required US FMVSS standards for its manufacture date. My B's manufacture date puts it the NHTSA VSA-80e catagory. If you are looking for a 2009MY then it would be NHTSA VSA-80f. The FMVSS numbers that a VSA-80e must meet are:

110 Tire Selection and Rims for Passanger Cars
118 Power-Operated Window, Partition, and Roof Panel Systems
138 Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems
201 Occupant Protection in Interior Impact
208 Occpant Crash Protection
213 Child Restraint Systems
214 Side Impact Protection
225 Child Restraing Anchorage Systems
401 Internal Trunk Release
According to the NHTSA website, cars manufactured on or before Sept. 1, 2007 are subject to VSA-80(d), not (e), which must meet FMVSS/NHTSA:
201 Occupant Protection in Interior Impact
208 Occupant Crash Protection
214 Side Impact Protection
225 Child Restraing Anchorage Systems
401 Internal Trunk Release

[see nhtsa.gov pdf here: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/CARS/RULES/...lig050108.pdf]

So the crash protection 201 and 214 and fmvss 208 are all unchanged. Does this mean that a B200 manufactured before Sept 1, 2007 [MY 2005-early 2008] complies with VSA-80(d)?

But yet letrsnow hears from CA-B200's importer,

Quote:
"No can do! It's off the list!" And, I talked with NHTSA and they said they WOULD need some crash test data.
in addition to the "complies with CMVSS" coverage of VSA-80(d or e), that same NHTSA importing document has a list of complying models which, as of May 2008, at least, does not include the B200 or B200T [or any B-Class]. Is this "the list" that the B200 is "off"? Does that mean it was "on the list" at some point? Because wouldn't that mean that "crash data" exists somewhere? Or that CMVSS crash data is not certifiable under FMVSS [anymore, because it seemed to be fine in 2007?]

If it's possible to import a pre 9/1/2007 B-class to the US, I'm all for it. Or do I have to wait until CA-B200 tires of hers and decides to sell? To whom should I start sending chocolates and fruit baskets, the NHTSA, CA-B200's importer, or CA-B200 herself?

I'd say CA-B200 herself it doesn't sound like you are going to get any joy from anybody else.

Nadine I'll start the bidding off at 100 $

I would definitely sent candy, chocolates and flowers and perfume to CA-B200 and just maybe she will let you drive her B.
Nadine and her husband are people that you'd definitely want to get to know.
