This being Mother's Day it apparently brought out the raging hormones in some of our members.(no pun intended) But like years ago when I was in my teens you learn to shut out , or at least filter out nit picking.

It's possible that the sub woofer in the Harmon Kardon stereo makes the sound in the rear better. Stereo separation is great with very distinct left and right channels. Do you know what kind of power the stereo has??

The dealer sold it to me saying it had 130 watts. I've heard elsewhere that the power is 100 watts. So that's where we're at. 130 or 100,... your pick!

I'm considering the speaker change too in the back. As for power it depends if the rating is RMS or PMPO ... that's probably why there is a difference
The reason the CVT sails up to the high RPM is that the B 200 develops its peak torque at a high 3500-4000 RPM, which is where the engine begins to sound coarse and gets noisy. The CVT will always do this, get to the heart of the torque band when accelerating moderately.
Even a pepère driver has to hammer it once in a while, to merge onto a freeway for example, so it is not a moot point.
Other unrefined aspects: the CVT hunts and makes the car wobble (as though the car has warped brake discs) a bit when slowing to a stop, as though the CVT is "gearing down" through the pseudo-gears. I found that annoying and surprising. I am sure it's unnecessary. It's almost as though there were wear points on the variable diameter drums that were causing this, but the three CVT cars I drove had few km, so that shouldn't be it.
I also didn't like the CVT's tendency to use engine braking on downhill runs, where in the manual car I'd be running out in 5th to keep the fuel consumption to zero for a longer distance and time.
Sure, many if not all of these problems can be overcome by shifting the car manually through its seven virtual gears, but then: why buy an automatic if you need to shift it manually (and 40% more often than the manual on the B 200) to enjoy a smooth, brisk and serene ride in all road conditions?
I have this jerking happening when I break ... a bit annoying, but not unbearable. As for the pepère driving going over the 3000rpm, my girlfriend drives like that but the tach never gets over 2500-2750rpm ...
It all comes to preferences and I think for those who likes an auto tranny will appreciate the CVT on this Merc.

I second this thought. . .I too would have gone with the Harman Kardon package if I were choosing right now. However, the sound system is indeed better compared to the tin can sound most other cars - especially the Asian brands put out. At least, there is some semblance of bass in the B's.
Harman Kardon sound system is the one of the best option I have ordered in our B. It sounds amazing. I have people coming from other more expensive brands and when they listen to my car they were shocked. Sound is clear and bass is great as well subwoofer is hidden in the spare tire. MP3 files playing in CD Changer plus add on aux input for satellite radio or ipod well worth the money spend.
Transmission jerking can be fixed by some software update I had it done after first 2 months of driving by dealer.
CVT on Turbo is the best option you can shift yourself or you let car shift. I keep it always on sport mode. This car is a bullet.

I think I may have found the wattage of the stereo. MB for some reason, wants to keep everything a secret, ( shades of 1984 )unlike other manufactures who devote pages to the audio systems in their cars.
It would appear that the standard stereo is 100 Watts and the Harmon Kardon is 320 Watts. I think extra power is used to drive the sub woofer in the rear of the car with the Harmon Kardon speakers.
I had asked my salesman and he was not sure about the Audio either.
