I second Mike's point on this one. $ 1800 for a mobile stereo system seems a little excessive to me, especially when you consider the wind road and tire noise competes with the stereo. If I want to enjoy high quality music, I do so at home, in a peaceful room, with a glass of red wine.
I think I may have found the wattage of the stereo. MB for some reason, wants to keep everything a secret, ( shades of 1984 )unlike other manufactures who devote pages to the audio systems in their cars.
It would appear that the standard stereo is 100 Watts and the Harmon Kardon is 320 Watts. I think extra power is used to drive the sub woofer in the rear of the car with the Harmon Kardon speakers.
I had asked my salesman and he was not sure about the Audio either.
Bill
Thanks again Bill,
Exactly, everything is so top secret. I can't find the dam spark plugs either. My super parts guy can't find them. I'll probably buy one at the dealer to get the # and I'll bet you that they'll want to sell them in a set only.
You and Keith are keeping us all entertained today.
Is any one apart from me claiming to know a Hurst Green or Oxted apart from me They are in Surrey and apart from Hurst green in Kent probably unique to the UK??
I Can stop being funny now as I have just completed my 1,000th post which is a heck of a lot for a one fingered typist.

Crank up the volume and you hear no wind noise, no tire noise, and no passenger chatter. ( If my wife reads this she knows I refer to others)
True it is expensive but MB has to make money somehow
I thought I was the only one having this 'choking' issue with my car when slowing down or stop. Now I know it's a inherent problem
And you know what, for the past few days, I have been driving in the 'S' mode as opposed to my usual 'C' mode. The 'choking' problem is less apparent. : )
I think I will leave it in that mode from now onwards.
