Martin,
Perfect write-up and great pics. I can think of a lot of places that can use that clear plastic.
What kind of soap do you recommend?

Keith and Martman

Thanks for the information, now I must submit the idea to the "powers that be" and see what she prefers. I went out and looked at the sills and small scratches are apparent but not bad yet.
The only trouble is when to do it, bad weather = no ambition and good weather = too busy. I'm sure my wife will find me the time however. Ah to be young again and full of piss and vinegar. ( sometime will have to look that expression up and see how it came about)

Qoute Bill F " sometime will have to look that expression up and see how it came about)

"Your wish is my command" (and that term comes from an old Popeye cartoon)

From a google search

Meaning
Rowdy, boisterous, full of youthful energy.
Origin

The earliest citation we've found is from 1938 in John Steinbeck's, The Grapes of Wrath:
Grampa walked up and slapped Tom on the chest, and his eyes grinned with affection and pride. "How are ya, Tommy?"
"O.K.," said Tom. "How ya keepin' yaself?"
"Full a piss an' vinegar," said Grampa.
In the the UK the expression used is " All wind & Pi~~"

I used my son's baby shampoo. No More Tears . . . very mild and gentle. I have been told to use as mild a detergent as you can. I know of some guys who use regular liquid Palmolive dish washing soap.

Cheers,

Martin

Bill,

If you only knew what and when I did this project.

In my case, bad weather = household chores, drive the kids, etc. good weather = household chores, drive the kids, etc.. . .

Martin, can I hire you to do the job? I am just not a DIY guy.

Do you think the transparent film will turn yellowish and dull over time?

I was told the 3M film I am using should not yellow over time, but we'll see. As in most other DIY jobs, the challenge is always finding the time to do it. Will let you know, jtcb.

Cheers,

Martin

Martin,
Thanks again for the write-up and soap info.
This DIY, as you've explained it, is doable and necessary for many of us.
