aux cable ( again)

Can you post some pics? Does it looks like a factory install and not just a head sticking out of nowhere? Any drilling requires? Do you need to keep the glove box open?

that's a picture of what it look like in the glove box. (the upper left hole above the vent hole) just like where the factory one's located? and yes, there's drilling in order to install the end of the aux input properly.

yes you have to drill one hole in the glove box
otherwise it is remove upper vents above radio disconnect 4 way flasher,
pull out the bottom panel where heating controls remove 4 screws that holds the radio pull out radio without disconecting it, plug in the wire. Pull the wire behind to glove box.
Remove six screws around glove box remove glove box drill hole plug it in the end reinstall back check if it is working. reinstall back slide back the radio careful around the wires when sliding it back. Screw back 4 screws to hold the radio. install bottom panel.
plug in wire for 4 way flasher slide in upper vent.
I do recommend to buy tools form mercedes very easy to do with merc original tools

Done by myself careful first time no problem.

It is quite simple to do. You need three parts:

169-540-49-08 (cable harness - $36.80)
140-589-02-33-00 (tool for airvents - $24.16)
115-589-03-59-100 (wedge for panel below radio - $14.16)

Be careful when removing the panel below the radio. Numerous pictures have been posted showing the removal of this piece and they are MISLEADING!!!!
Removing this panel is without a doubt the hardest part of the job and NEVER consider doing this in cold weather or I guarantee it will snap.

The problem is that every picture I've seen shows the wedge being used on the bottom edge of the panel (by seat heater controls). This is no good! The clips are actually on the side of the panel. Another problem is that this panel is actually two pieces! There is the top layer that is "permanently cliped/fused" to the lower main panel that is held by the clips on the side (hence the wedge to release them). When I first used the wedge, I began to leaver off the top panel and broke a number of the "permanent clips" - luckily I was able to repair.

For those interested in the wood kit, I believe it is this top layer only that is replaced during the process and the underlying panel is the same.

There you go - my bit of wisdom for the day - make sure you are removing the main piece that has both layers and not just the top one!

you're talking about audio line at burnaby right? i believe i've talked to brian. my car was done on a saturday. only took them like 20 mins for the whole job.

Do you happen to have the part# for the Aux cable handy? I found one similiar cable on Ebay and I wonder if they are the same.

Another question. Is this needed in order to plug the mp3 player to aux cable in order to play in car stereo? Is this what you guys use?
