B Accessories? What can't you live without?

Hi everyone.
Firstly can I comment on what a terrific forum this is. Very helpful advice and comments, also friendly!
I am wondering which accessories (not modifications) you have that you can't live without.
My MB dealership have not given me the Aussie accessories book for my B, however I have downloaded the NZ version.
There are a few things I am keen on and would love your advice.
Non slip Cargo Mat vs Cargo tray with lip
Nets in cargo area.
Mudflaps? (we have about 30m gravel driveway, but mostly driving high speed on sealed country roads).
Inside Bike Rack, is it really worth it?
Rim locks? Is anyone really going to steal my rims?
Thanks again for all your help, cheers!

Definitely get the rim (wheel) locks your wheels might not fit their car but your tyres might.

I have a non M/B cargo tray it's made from a very heavy duty plastic with lip all round which would stop any spilt liquids getting onto the boot carpet. I can recommend this. See picture below

I also use a rear bikecarrier made by THULE which is similar to the M/B one but under half the price. See Dereks earlier posts on ideas on carrying bikes, he's your man for this. (I use mine for a wheelchair)

I bought the mudflaps as the roads in Montreal make the roads in Kabul look like Monte Carlo. The directions, however, say you need 20 degrees for 24 hours to install them so the sticky stuff will set, so they are still sitting so usefully in the box. Its 3 degrees here today and won't hit 20 for weeks yet.
I need a cargo cover for the dog, also protection for the bumper. There is a great mat they make for the M series that folds out and covers the bumper top but it is too large for the B.

Get the OEM mudflaps. They do a decent job in keep dirt away from the lower body. That being said, don't expect the body to be completely dirt free.

Wind deflector (aftermarket) is an useful accessory also. I can lower the window for fresh air even in rainy day.

The trunk tray is good. I have the light coloured interior. so its carpet is easily marked.

Unfortunately, despite having the liner, it wasn't in the car when my wife put a new liquid laundry detergent bottle in there and the lid loosened while driving and the carpeting on the cargo floor got spotted with detergent.

I spent 2 hours sucking it out with an upholstery cleaner vacuum loaded with pure water, but you can still see where the stuff spilled. I am going to have to use the same detergent on the rest of that carpeting to match the "look".

Needless to say, the liner stays in there all the time now.

My liner looks different than the one in the photo above - the texture is of little squares and it has a Mercedes-Benz logo and star at the centre.

Yours must be the genuine M/B one then Mike mine was purchased on ebay they are certainly a handy accessory. You can get my version with a non-slip matting in that square section in the middle. I just us a piece of rubber backed matting.

Awesome, thanks for your help everyone.

To be honest I had never seen a B until I went into MB here and asked them what they had in a small diesel. Admittedly I am not in the city, and I imagine there are more B's in Sydney and Melbourne in particular. When I search on AU ebay virtually nothing comes up for B class. I have been searching UK and DE and found a lot more.

I will definitely get the cargo tray as oposed to the liner. Yes I too have visions of spilling something on the carpet!

I will think about the bike carrier, it might be a bit more of an unnecessary luxury for me right now.

We have had a "cold" snap here in the last week and top temp is about 22 but overnight getting down to 7 or 6 (which is really cold for April here). I will ask MB about the mudflaps and see if they can install them now before winter.

MB carpet mats are being thrown in as part of the deal. These will suit me fine here. We don't get snow at home and I park in a carport. When I do go to the snow I am likely to take my 4WD anyway.

Anything else that I haven't listed that is a "must"?

Cheers, everyone.

Hi Springy,
As for the bike's being secure on the inside of your B, my installation is quick and handles both mountain and road bikes. If you're tall then check before installing.
I use both height positions depending on which bikes are in; so the floor tray might not work well.
The above Gallery pics will show my bikes installed and so many other great B's and pics.
The wheel locks will not work for the pros but If theft is a problem in your area then you have no choice but to get them anyway.
Keep asking and we'll do our best to give you the right answer.
Cheers, Derek

Hey springy, try using the search word w245 on Ebay and Klasse b on Ebay Germany and you'll find a lot of stuff for the b class.

Thanks jtcb. Unfortunately the B Class does not seem to have the numbers or popularity that it appears to have OS.
When I search AU ebay there is one actual listing for a B Class or related item and when I searched W245 (thanks for the tip BTW) a watch comes up, and there are 3 direct links to international sites.
Guess I'll have to start my own fan club here!! I have seen Miroj about too, he may be able to help me out with local info.
