Well for now the Ipod interface kit goes off my list of priorities. My dealer has quoted $920 AUD installed. I think that is over $500 in installation alone. I may try some city based MB dealerships and see what they say, as that seems to be on the higher side from what I have read here previously.
I have ordered cargo tray. They said they have a full "system" designed to hold your groceries in different compartments, but the tray will be more suitable for me.

Reason: Edited for terrible spelling!
If your not worried about the individual track control the basic aux in works fine you can adjust the volume from the steering wheel. Beauty of it is it works for any device MP3 players, Ipod, tape players, whatever. Plus it doesn't cost anything it's already there. All you need is a male to male connecting cable costing about £1 on ebay.
My only accessory i need is the Ipod kit. Definetly, the price is outrageous, compared to what it offers. But it integrates nice and works like a charm.
Oh, and clear silver indicators do look very nice on the outside....

What if I don't have the aux in the 07 model? How can I play mp3 from a mp3 player?
I had good results from a cheepie RF transmitter on my old B but other people have not had as much success.
It might pay to check earlier threads in this forum as this topic has been exhaustively covered in previous posts.
Especially on this thread :- MP3s on Audio 20 radio which I started some time ago and can by found as the second thread down on "threads started by KDBCOM"
Kdbcom, sorry to ask... what am I looking for on ebay? I am basically after a male to male cable, but not sure what you call the end that plugs into my ipod and the car! I only have a small ipod shuffle which just has the same point you plug the headphones into is the same as the charger...
My appologies if that makes no sense!
I've had a look but no luck, but I'm not sure I've searched for the right thing.
Ah ha! 3.5 to 3.5 male to male? Does that sound right?

Reason: Think I might have worked it out!
Yes 3.5 male to male is right. You don't have to get them on e-bay, just go to any audio/video store and ask for one. I think mine was about $6 (Can) at Best Buy.
Yes JMCC is right, I only suggested ebay because some of the audio /video shops charge an arm & a leg for connecting leads over here.
To invoke the aux in function turn on the radio press & hold the CDC button for about 2 seconds the display shows aux input AUX INPUT ACTIVE.
You may need to juggle about a bit with the volume control on your MP3 or whatever in order to get a similar volume to the CD or Radio volume that you normally have. Once you have that set, use the steering controls to adjust the volume as normal.
Depending on your device you may also need to adjust the bass & treble settings to get the best sound, I seem to remember that the radio holds these settings so they will be ready for the next time you use AUX.
To change back to Cd or Radio just press the appropriate buttons as normal.
If traffic information is set on your radio your MP3 song will be interrupted by the traffic announcement (your song will, however, not be paused and will carry on playing silently)
Tip try and get a lead that is not too thick as you may have trouble getting it out of the side of the glove compartment door, that is if you want to have your device accessible without having to keep opening the glovebox door.
I normally have my MP3 in that little rectangular compartment between the gearshift & the handbrake as it fits perfectly there. Another place I have used is the elasticated map net on the passengers side of the, what used to be called, 'transmission hump'.
This method does save a fortune on the dedicated Ipod interface but you do lose out on the control of the Ipod which may or may not be of importance to you.
I finally have my B! I ended up getting the Mercedes cargo tray. I checked with some of the companies that do similar, but none would post to Australia. It wasn't too bad price wise. I think I paid the same for the one in my Nissan Patrol anyway.
They have let me "borrow" their accessory list, so I will pour over that for the weekend to see if there is something else that catches my eye.
I have ordered a 3.5mm lead, however my dealer is insistent in telling me that it will not work, I just smiled and nodded and agreed with him... time will tell who is right.
