My thoughts exactly!
As I said I would give it a go in the 4WD, it is well past any warranty considerations and is not driving that well anymore anyway! However before I did anything I would prefer to hear a personal recommendation from someone who has actually tried it.
It does come up in B Class searches, but I would be most reluctant to modify a brand new engine under warranty for exactly the reasons you state Derek.
I was interested if any of the efficiency buffs here had heard of it and if it actually does anything.
The B is already a finely tuned engine with good FE ratings, hence my decision to purchase one.
On another point, has anyone directly compared the MPG on C and S mode? ie has anyone done the same trip in the two different modes to compare?

The cyclone add ons have proven to be bogus. Also, your B already has an exhaust gas driven turbo charger which forces extra air into the combustion process.
If you want optimum fuel mileage, make sure the tires have the pressure recommended for maximum load. Then make sure you carry the minimum load - 'no junk in the trunk'. Weight = fuel. Drive moderately. Use cruise control when safe to do so.

Welcome to the forum, you will love the B, and ' good-on-ya'.

PS. This filter might improve power on diesel models: http://www.knfilters.com/news/news.aspx?ID=525

Good advice there, and - for the record - I never drive at 85, except in 80 speed zones. Usually it's 95 or 115 if on the open highway! 5 over the limit.

Here are a few practical tips to save fuel:

12 Proven Ways To Improve Gas Mileage

PS. Gas is statistically cheaper on Wednesdays - then there is this one- gas up at night-
Buy gas during the coolest times of the day
“During these times gasoline is densest. Keep in mind - gas pumps measure volumes of gasoline, not densities of fuel concentration. You are charged according to ‘volume of measurement’.” [via HowToAdvice.com]
