After lurking around here for a while, picking up tips, hints and a wealth of general knowledge on the B, I am finally picking up our Nocturnal Black B200 from the dealer tomorrow. Worked out a pretty decent deal with my local dealer I guess to meet their sales quota for the month, and according to the business manager, it also was their quarter end. (Had some help from carcostcanada.com as well.)
I saw our new Black Beauty as she was on the hoist being PDI'd this morning as I was being toured around by my sales guy. Then he calls me around 5:00 PM saying if I wanted the car, it would be ready by 6:30 PM. I decided to wait one more night and see her tomorrow instead.
No, it won't be April Fool's day for me, but, it sure will be a sweet day regardless. Good thing I hear the weather will be sunny and semi-hot for the rest of the week. The family will definitely be surprised and excited when I come home with a different black car tomorrow evening.
Thanks to all for sharing your general knowledge on everything B. I hope to be able to share a little bit with you all as well.
Thanks, Mike Tee. I live in Richmond, BC. Considering the weather we have had this past week (snow as recently as this weekend) and I hear that we will have sunshine and possibly up to 14 C this week, this is semi-hot for me.
Hi Martman, I am new too. How is your new B200? I am guessing since you havne't been back since delivery, that you must be out driving.
I will handover of the keys to my new Comet Grey B180 CDI, with Sports pack on Wednesday. This is the only diesel model currently available in Australia (B180 CDI and B200Turbo are only models here, but I am sure you all already knew that). I was hoping that everything would be cleared for the weekend, but the dealer wont be ready until Wednesday.
I am thinking of asking for Ipod Integration to be added before delivery, since I have a few days extra to wait.
I am keen to hear what your experiences with your new B200 have been Martman. Happy driving this weekend.
Hi & Welcome to the forum Springy you will help to boost the 'downunder' membership population. Hope you are pleased with your ride & Don't forget to post some photos.
Thanks. How'd you know that I've been out enjoying our new Baby? :-)
We actually took delivery of our B200 on April 1st (no, it wasn't an April fool's joke either), and loving every minute of driving it. Really enjoying the smooth ride.
My dealer at MB Richmond threw in a set of all season mats (still on back order though) and a rear load sill protector (to protect the top of the rear bumper), as well as a couple genuine MB keyrings. Congrats on your CDI purchase. Would love to see a CDI B here in Canada as well, though.
Let us know how your B180 CDI is. Hopefully, those Diesels will eventually make it to Canada as well.
Cheers,

Reason: added last line
Yeah a CDI option would be worth considering. Embarrassingly (for the B), the E 320 CDI gets better FE than the B 200 with a manual, 6.0 versus 6.7 on the highway, and 9.0 versus 9.2 in the city.
Again not according to the M/B website the E320 CDI only beats the B200 on the extra urban cycle at 50.4 compared to 47.1
In the urban E320 27.4 compared to 30.4 on the B & combined is E320 38.7 compared to 39.2 on the B with correspondingly worse CO2 emissions at 202 compared to the B200s 173. Mind you it has got better top speed & 0-62mph times
The fairer comparison would be with the B 200CDI which knocks spots of the E320CDI on MPG on all cycles & emissions
Plus its almost double the price of a B at about £38,000
These figures are produced and clearly displayed in the European market so that buyers can compare different makes & models for their fuel economy & their emissions (under strict government guidlines) which in the UK makes a considerable difference to their yearly taxation band. Hence the need for reliability & accuracy of the figures.
