As Mike has said, I do try to keep my cars forever. From dust to dust(me, not the cars). They should last longer if my rust-proofing works.
270,000 km on her present beater wagon and still with the original clutch.(sorry Bill, we only drive manuals)
The B stays along with the Audi, but the Bug went after 35 years.(and it had showroom original paint)
The Suby is probably going to happen.
Cheers, Derek
If you do buy the Subaru, we hope that you will not leave us for your new AWD friends The Subaru forums might seem new and exciting but will they care about the real you????
I wish that the B had AWD but knowing the Germans they would have come up with a super deluxe version costing $10,000 or more.
Bill, The Subaru hatchback WRX looks good to me too.CanadianDriver: Test Drive - 2008 Subaru WRX hatchback
Even the MINI - much less practical - but much more FUN to drive.
Note to MB: Get the diesel over here soon, or lose customers.
Bill....AudiWorld(AWD) has been with me for many years now and I touch base there at least once a month. So you know where my true love lies.
Do you think that SubyWorld would offer me what I have here.
Only if I bought each of you a Suby too!!
Cheers, Derek

They do Bill it's called the R class it's AWD & available in Canada in diesel form, it out performs the B
oh and I forgot to mention it costs a fortune.
Interesting review on used A Class that shares most of the internal organ with the B Class (I think). Especially the last paragraph ... that comfort me in my choice since I'm also a person who keeps his car for a long time (10 years)
I think most people buy the B class because they appreciate the functionality of this concept. If they wanted flash, bling, tail fins and chrome bumpers, they would shop elsewhere.
In my opinion, anything touted as a 'new B' should have substantive and highly desirable changes. How about some practical improvements like: start-stop technology, brakes that do not wear or warp prematurely, the ability to use regular gas instead of premium ( not to forget the possibility of a 1.8 or 2 litre diesel) variable valve technology with four valves per, low roll resistance tires.... the list goes on.
plus 1.... I like MAV concept with huge interior space... and sporty stylist looking compare with FRV or Meriva or Golf Plus or C-Max...
