Hood....Bonnet....

....what ever we call it, it won't latch down all the way.

It's as if I pulled on the interior release and left it that way. Has any one had this problem before? Is there an adjustment I can make?

thanks

I think you have to pull the thing that stick out from the grille while you are closing the hood in order to completely close it..

The dealer can adjust the front latch - and this should be done immediately as it is a potential safety issue. You do not want it flying open on the freeway.

Also, be careful if you slam the hood down too hard, you can break the headlights - or dent the hood. I push mine down firmly from a distance of 1 ft above the locked position. Good Luck with this.

I can't get the hood to close all the way so it won't lock. Pulling on the front release didn't help. It just won't lock down.

It was like this when I got home so it must have popped open while driving. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow but I was hoping to make some kind of adjustment just to get the thing locked down.

Before you go to the dealer, also check that the release lever - near your left knee - is pushed forward and not stuck in the rear / open position.

Yikes that sounds scary!! Just a few weeks ago I saw a Chevy Cavalier on the side of the highway with it's hood all bend back and the windshield smashed. I would be taking it easy back to the dealer. I find the hood latch isn't that easy to lock and you need a fair bit of force to get it in one go. I'm curious to what the dealer does.

Usually when you pull on the red lever, you should feel the resistance and the release of same resistance when the hood pops up a bit.
If that's not happening then it's stuck in the open position.
With a good light, you should be able to see where the fine realease cable exits near the front latch while looking down.
A quick spray of light oil or generic WD-40 might help with something thats sticking.
With 2 people and one pulling on the hood lever, you should be able to see what's happening.
Good luck ! Derek

Mine needs a good drop to latch properly. I never tried to pull the plastic handle while closing it. The manual doesn't instruct to do so neither ... Is it the proper way to close the hood/bonnet ?

Don't think so there is no mention of it in the online owners manual.

Check Bee's solution I have sometimes found mine needs to be manually pushed back to the 'original position' before it locks properly (on the B & other cars).

Link to Info from online manual below :-

In Operation 8/37 Page 216

Tried to printscreen this but text was too small to read, sorry.

At times I find it hard to close the cover without giving it a hard slam. I find it close smoother when I pull the lever on the grille while "slamming" it down.
