Thanks guys. All the poking, prodding, tugging but nothing seems to work and everything seems to look fine but obviously something is amiss It’s always been a little difficult to latch down so maybe something has been out of alignment all along. I guess the MB technicians get another day with my car soon. (MB tech with my car...)

If it is just an adjustment of the hood latch, it should not take more than about 15 - 20 minutes to complete. If your dealer offers a pit-stop type service you will be on your way after drinking your complimentary coffee.

If you press the hood down softly, can you press the hood down so that the seams of the hood and fenders and headlights lined up properly?
If not, then maybe it's just a hood adjustment. The large black plastic screws on each side are part of the hood adjustment.
With the hood in the raised position, you should be able to spring the mechanism into the locked position manually with a screwdriver. Pulling the hood release lever should then re-release it back to normal.
It will be a quick fix so I hope you're able to post their findings.

Woohoo it locked! I kept pulling and pushing on levers, cables, springs anything that moved in the latch or associated with the latch. Then I tried once again to close it and voila...it closed. I’ll have the dealer check the adjustment next service. (I wonder how much that hood weighs...seemed to get heavier by the day...)

I worked on my first two cars regularly so I couldn't let a latch beat me.

CA-B200, I like your attitude.
I know this forum drags us into complaining too often about our B's.
Most of us really like the way it does things well.
Together we'll hopefully solve the problems that we do get.
It's such a good feeling when we're able to fix it ourselves.
