Just had my B-service done (@20,000 km). Total with tax came to $153.00 CAD which I considered really quite reasonable (as far as these things go).
At the same time they did a few updates:
- adjust tail gate striker plate and adjust spacing between tail lights (to fix squeak)
- adjust new CVT control unit software
- engine control unit software update
Also, they replaced the upper steering wheel chrome (two upper parts) as the foil was lifting. I know a few people were interested in installing this on the non-turbo wheels. From what I can tell, the part number is 164-460-06-95-9E37 quantity = 1. Not sure why the quantity is one as they replaced at least the two upper pieces, so perhaps it comes as a package of 2 or 4? No price. The invoice does say RE/RE air bag in steering wheel - install chrome strips on steering wheel, so this would imply that the airbag unit, or at least cover needs to come off to do the job.

Fair price. I would have gone for the plain plastic wheel spokes, as the foil is bound to lift on the new ones too. I'm going to get Mobil 1 0W40 so mine should cost about $15-20 more.
Hi Jeff. Are you the original owner of the B and bought it brand new? Have you ever change the oil yourself? Good to see someone has no problem delaying service B to 20,000km. My dealer advice me to go in at 15,000km, even though the "service B due now" message is up for two weeks now.
Under $200 is a reasonable price. I assume I can ask them to change things at no charge under warranty? Both decal on the front doors starts to bubble up beside the glass. I might ask them to change it. I will also ask them to change new brake pads, windshield wipers, top up washer fluid, fix "flying bugs into the car" problem.
BTW, I called the dealer today for this bug problem. He suggests me to activate the circulate button before switching off the engine. It doesn't sound right to me to have to do this in order to keep bugs out. Is this the problem specific to the B or to any other car?
Remember when I detailed my B service with a $370.00 bill in Laval.
They added no fluids at all, and no lubes at the hinges because I had already done so and I had changed the oil and filter myself.
I checked the battery charging and added a touch of distilled water myself.
I documented everything that I did beforehand in the service book and they were aware of my work.
They killed time for over 3 hours which included the mechanic sitting up on his bench with his feet dangling down supposedly out of my view with my B up on the lift.
If I had brought my camera, I would have posted his picture.
You know I'm going to run back to Laval real soon. You got a great deal!!
Yes, I'm the original owner of the car. While the "first" service was at 20,000 km, I did have the oil changed at 10,000 when it was in for warranty work. The service "C" will be due next in 15,000 km. That means I'll probably change the oil at 7,500. I may do this myself if it doesn't need any warranty work at the same time.
Dealer had no issues with replacing what I asked them to do. In fact, the shop foreman came out to the car with me to have a look, and sat in the car with me to observe the idle and my concerns. They also checked the battery and removed rim to inspect brakes.
The primary reason I change the oil sooner (other than habit) is because I do mostly short trips (5 days a week my average trip is around 5 minutes each way). In fact, I should probably change every 5K. The other reason is that given my usage, I'd feel rather odd only taking the car in once every year and a half or so.
Ironically, the service booklet for the Canadian B Class lists service intervals as 20,000 km apart, right up to 300,000.
So the re-setting to 15,000 is probably a profit-making move, unless they had a rash of engine failures on early Canadian Bs that were doing 20,000 between every service!
I thought Service A is @ 20,000 km and that the brake / wear and tear warranty is for 2 yrs only, so I would probably won't do any oil change etc until 20K and expect the dealer to change the brake pad also.
Jeff, which dealer do you go to ? Markham ? and did you ask to have your brake pad replaced ?

No, I go to Newmarket. I didn't ask to have the brake pads replaced, but it is standard for them to inspect at each service. Unlike some on the forum, I've been lucky, and have no issues with the brakes (a little noisy for the first few stops each morning due to light rust - but certainly no warping).
I think it's jtcb that is interested in having them replaced under wear and tear.
