In saying that the ride in my B is on the firm side; I also should have explained the road scene in Quebec.
At this time of year most cars on the road give you the impression that everyone is in the warm-up lap of an F-1 race. Dodging potholes never ends here.
The roads north of Montreal are cracked and laced with frost heaves.
My great fuel economy is partly due to the fact that my wheels only touch on the peaks of these heaves.
So the old boats of he 60's did very well here.
Daniel lost 2 wheels and 2 hubcaps in a smallish pothole in Montreal a while back and the springtime games are just beginning.
As Mike said, when the B is loaded, the ride improves and when I travel out of this province the ride greatly improves.
Cheers, Derek

Here in flat Toronto the roads are not great and winter beaten, but for sure it is much more severe where you are. I love the ride in the B, but if I were to critique I'd say that sometimes you get a see-saw effect on certain bumps I think because the car is small yet taller. The long wheelbase (for it's length) helps the ride a lot.
If you want to experience a ride from hell, try a Mini Cooper. People say it handles like a go-kart and they are partly right, it drove like a go-kart too!

I need to get this off my chest: this is the "I'm looking for a B but am concerned with the requirement for premium fuel" thread, correct? Why does everybody (except me!) have to 'quote' the previous poster's posting? Surely we haven't such short attention spans that we can't remember the topic or what the previous poster wrote? Wading through all the 'quotes,' that I have read once and will likely not re-read (I do know how to scroll, if I have a senior's moment, and need to refer back) spoils the experience of reading all the good things that are posted here - and there really is some good stuff in here somewhere!
I love my B but it rides like a tank in front - I am going to get the dealer to stare at it and see if the shocks are shot, or binding, or whatever.
BTW, I must respectfully counter you sir. I find the quotes helpful in that I can see right off what I am responding too and so can others, especially when the threads get long and move away a bit from topic... like now for instance.
Fair enough - after you have written your response, hold down the left mouse button, then highlight the quote - hit 'delete.'
The quote function has it's purpose on the forum. It helps people know what and who you are responding to, otherwise it just gets confusing. If I was responding to a post from Derek and placed it last under Mike Tee's post, it might not make sense. You put the quote in and everyone knows it was a response to Derek's post.

I found the old Mini to be a riot! It was very peppy compared to my 59 Bug.
The Bug had 15" wheels and the Mini had 10" wheels; so you always felt like your butt was touching the ground. As you said: "like a go-kart".
I can agree with points raised by both xsbank & M105 it is a nuisance having to scroll past a lot of already read text but on the other hand you do often need to address a point raised a couple of posts ago.
In this case I tend to either edit the quote or copy & paste the salient points in which case members know what you are talking about and they do not have to wade through a lot of unnecessary bumph.
Try it does not take that much longer to do.
If everyone on the Benzworld forum did this it would save a heck of a lot of wasted Kilobytes on their system.
Ed Zachary (as in exactly, not "your face looks....."). I Googled it too - there's a perfect example of how a little knowledge is dangerous! No offense intended!
